100 engine replacement

I replaced the tired k241 in my 100 with one i got from william1041200 lastnight, after getting the exhaust valve unstuck and swapping everything over it runs great no smoke no knocks. The hardest part was getting the PTO apart on both of them, i had to swap the starter pulley because the one on the new engine was no good so i got a good lesson on how the PTO is put together and its not that bad. Heres a pic of what i had to do to get the pulley off it works pretty good i even did it on the good pulley because it was being stubborn. I used two 5/16 bolts and a steering wheel puller you have to drill two holes opposite one another in the pulley for the bolts, it works good. I dont see a problem with drilling a couple holes i dont really know how else to get them off i had the set screws out and it wouldnt budge

Did you take all six set screws out?

Yeah the part that goes in the basket came right out after i took six set screws out and the bearing and lock collar came off easy after i figured out how that works the part i had trouble with was the pulley and basket wouldnt move even after i took the 2 set screws out of it i didnt have to wrench real hard on the puller i just held the pulley by hand and turned the wrench by hand the pulley was just too tight to pull off without the puller, when i got it off and cleaned up the shaft it slid right on and off easy

I had to remove the one on my 128 the exact same way. Worked quite well, no distortion to the pulley or basket thank goodness.
