K321 dipstick
I have a 147 with a broken rod. Noticed the long dipstick is broken or cut off. Dont know why or how. I see another shorter stick on the motor. Can you use the short stick to measure the correct oil level? Why 2 sticks???

The 147 rolled out of the Factory with a Kohler K321S‐60226D engine in it.
That K321S had only one dipstick and that is 237620-S. Anything other than that, is a PO modification or hack job. |

Looks like you got an older motor (long dipstick) with a PO modified/installed cam cover dipstick.
The old K block used longer dipstick until Kohler began adding balance gears. That made it necessary to move the dipstick somewhere else... .which is on the cam gear cover by the points. |
