2182 diesel repower

I recently bought 3 Jacobson Greens King IV diesels for a repower project. According to the Jacobson data they are D662 Kubota's. After running them and pulling and washing them I find the ID tag says D600. From what I can find the difference between the two is stroke. What does the D662's Id tag read D662? New to the Kubota diesels. We plan on sliding them into our 2182 Cubs.:bigthink:

Welcome to the Site 18Pointer! I have one of those engines from a Jacobsen mower and it has the D662 in raised letters on the block. That engine is supposed to be 18 hp where the D600 is 17 hp. The head and gasket are different than the D600. I had to buy one for mine. I plan to someday put it in my 782 or 1862.

Flipped your pic. Looks like a D600 to me. Should be a very easy swap in a 2182. You'll need to do some wiring changes. You need to add a fuel return line, Cub put a tee fitting in the crossover line on the fuel tank for the return on the 1782's, see pic
. They used the same electric fuel transfer pump so you can remove the pump of the side of the block on that D600 and block off the hole. Holler if I can help. :beerchug:

Thanks for the info and pic flipping! We have 2 swaps to do so at least the knowledge will be used again and again. Might put the third diesel in my $10.00 782. Its a roller without steering but the steering column on the Jacobsen looks close by eye.

3 1/2 fun filled hours later WG600 out of my sons 2182 and D600 sitting in place. Waiting on fan belt before proceeding. Hardest part was the cranky Allen bolts holding driveshaft adapter plate to flywheel. More details and pics next time we get to work on it. Holidays interference! Merry Christmas everyone!

I know someone that is looking for a running WG 600 for his 2182.

That one smokes 30 seconds or more after startup but runs well. Has low compression but good oil pressure. That is my sons 2182. I'm checking out my second D600 this weekend, if it checks out I'm putting it in my 2182 depending on weather. No heat in shop. If I change it out it may be for sale. It has good compression, runs well, not checked oil pressure yet. Both 2182's were purchased this fall and the fuel lines and tank grommets were leaking. What are 2182 motors worth? I have no clue.
