Reccomend replacing lug bolts with wheel studs and nuts?
I have a Cub Cadet Original, and I bought dual wheel adapters for it. The original lugs are too short, and they won't go through the wheel. I tried finding lug bolts that would be the correct size but I can't find any. Should I try replacing the lug bolts with wheel studs and lug nuts so the wheel adapters can reach? It might even be easier to replace the wheel and tires too.

I have used regular 7/16-20 bolts, screwed in from the back. But I had to grind just a little under the head because the threads didn't go completely to the head. I am talking just something like 1/16" or so. Look at your bolts and you will see what I mean. Other than that, they worked fine. I have also used 7/16-20 all-thread/threaded rod with a thin jam nut in the back behind the flange. I found the 7/16-20 all-thread at Fastenal.

Or to keep from grinding, put a washer under the head. The bolt method won't work on later tractors with disc brakes.

I put studs on a 149 I used to own. Got the studs, jam nuts and lug nuts from McMaster Carr

I'm thinking of doing this too. I am assuming the jam nuts are only used on the back side of the flange so the rim sits properly?
