New to me 108

Brother picked me up a 108 yesterday at an auction for $120. Don't know much about it, but I know it doesn't run. It has a dead battery. I'll post pics when I get home.

I am, but sadly the only tractor that went for cheap was mine. I'm probably going to flip the 108, sell it, then buy a gear drive narrow frame to start my Mini 185 Lo-boy project, AKA "tractor with fancy 185 lo boy paint job".

I might sell you a 104....

I forgot to move the pictures of the 108 from my phone to my computer. Woops. But hey, the 108 runs, and it only needed jump started! Everything works, surprisingly, although not sure about the PTO. Mule drive has the front part from a wide frame but then the back frame from a narrow frame, so it doesn't lift. Also the belt is riding directly on the bar the mule drive tension pulley (the one with the spring) is attached to. First on the agenda: Clean the tank and drain the bad gas. Helpfully enough, the PO put an aftermarket fuel shutoff after the 90 degree pipe out of the tank (redneck fuel shutoff replacement) and added a fuel filter. The tractor also has the breather tube going into the air filter base and out the cover, with no tube between. Seems like it would pour oil into the air filter, homemade oil bath, maybe, on a dry air cleaner :biggrin2:? All I need is to clean the tractor up and sell 'er.

Am I writing a book or a novel? I don't know.

I'll have pics eventually!

Some of the later engines had a crankcase vent hose that went to the air filter housing. What you have may be stock if the engine has been replaced.

But why is it a tube smaller than fuel line and WHY does it have a vent on the OUTSIDE of the air filter cover? What was the PO trying to do, trying to spray fuel into the engine without taking the air filter off?
