Machtech relief valves

I recently put two new Machtech stainless automatic relief valves in my 782. They are beautiful to look at, a joy to hold, and the tractor is silky smooth in forward, reverse, and up & down for the first time since I've owned it.

Mark's customer service is beyond great. I had a problem & he helped me get it fixed. I always expected a little roughness in a 35 year old machine, but after installing his valves the old 782 is as good as anything on the market.

Can't recommend Mark or Machtech enough!

I've used Marks services for about 6 sets of valves. All good. Here is his contact info.

Same here. Remanufactured my valves quickly and at a great price. Good as new!

Tacosteelersman 04-06-2015 10:51 PM

I had the relief valves done on my 982 by him, I am very happy with the product and turn over times. I got my relief valves back, they work flawlessly and half the price of the cheapest new ones I found.

He has a pair of mine as I type from my BIL's 1450. Sent 'em in last week and hope to have 'em back by the end of this week.
Great service!

I must have asked the wrong questions when I called him. My 782 hydraulics are weak at about 400psi. Wanted to have it bumped back up to spec. He said he could not do that???

ol'George 04-15-2015 10:30 PM

That is correct, they are not "relief valves" as in pressure adjustment.
They are to relieve the hydro so it can be pushed, sometimes called dump valves.
You need to look @ the service manual and shim the relief valve on the top of the hydro kind of between them,
And only use a small shim maybe the thickness of a soup can, which will bring it up several hundred pounds, and you will need a gauge with @ least #1000 reading
The info is here, I'm sure someone will link it for you.

Found it,should be here in section 3 IIRR

Simple enough. Thanks for the link.

I know this has been discussed before but what does he normally charge to rebuild them? I have both a manual set and a auto set I will be needing rebuilt

finsruskw 04-16-2015 06:33 AM

Send him your valves and a check for $80
They will both ship in a small flat rate USPS box.
Turn around time is about 1 week.

cyr2872 05-12-2015 03:57 PM

The Machtech service is great. Sent in the two relief valves from the 1872 because they were leaking out the top; received them rebuilt a week later. Hydro operation is much smoother, zero leaks, and doesn't howl anymore. I'll be sending him two more soon.

So,.. you mean that if I'm just mowing along like normal and when I stop to get a drink of water and notice that there is fluid raining down all over the ground and when I remove the center cover I see that there is hytran pissing out of the two little holes in the center of the two hexed shaped items on either side of the picture all I have to do is unscrew those two items and send them to this guy and he'll fix 'em for me? That's it? (and pay him)

p.s. Already did the fluid and filter when I got it (1450) back in February.

Sounds like you got it. He turns them around very fast and does a great job.

Sam Mac 07-29-2015 08:33 PM

Or you can buy a set already done. :biggrin2:

Thanks guys, so what's the difference between the autos and the manuals?, interchangeable?, advantages/disadvantages?...

Sam Mac 07-29-2015 08:54 PM

Those are auto valves in your pic. Manuals have a little pin sticking out of the top and they need to be pushed down to release in order to move the tractor.

Terry C 07-29-2015 09:02 PM

I like the automatics. I replaced the ones in my 129 and 149 with autos.
I haven't put autos in a narrow frame but I would think there would be room.
They are taller by 1/2 to 3/4 inch.

twoton 07-30-2015 06:03 AM

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.

mortten 09-07-2015 12:37 PM

I just got a front axle pin from him. Excellent work.

dodge trucker 09-12-2020 11:07 AM

It's a lil cheaper if you send more than 1 set in at a time, he shows that on his site, but for 1 set it's $77 incl shipping back to you, shipping there is in addition. It cost me $9.something to ship them there. Took right at 2 weeks from when I mailed them til I had them back. With a labor day weekend in between

Just another big shout out to Mark and his service. I have come to a state of complete dissolution trying to do business in this world. People like Mark are one of the only thing that keeps me sane. From MT to Ohio and home again
in a week. I am going to have to buy more Hydros just so I can send him
work. Thanks Mark, you are Da Man.

Another shout out here, he took care of my 1282's 2 years ago (I found him on eBay, would go direct to save him the fees/PITA).

Farmall450, Do you have a good phone number or working email to order direct? I have been unable to get in touch with Mark. Thanks and have a great day.

Relief Valves

Sent my relief valves to Jeff along with a check and a special request.
Got my rebuilt relief valves back yesterday but will not get to install them for a week or so as the tractor is at my friends farm about sixty miles away.
A lot of thanks to the members and a big shout out to Jeff. His work is greatly appreciated. Have a great day all.
Bob
