190-451 snow blower on 1861 tractor

A buddy just found a 190-451 blower for his 1861, has all mounted but says when it’s down he can’t steer it.
Thoughts? Gonna go look at it but thought I’d throw it out there
Thanks

It's a heavy blower, and a not so heavy machine.

This statement is hard for me to make sense of. Do you mean:
the front tires are hitting the blower when turned?
the front tires are sliding on the snow?
the front end is so heavy he can't turn the steering wheel?
the blower is lifting the front wheels off the ground?
????

Are all three pictures of the same tractor with the same problem ??

With turf tires up front, the tractor will not respond to large steering wheel input, when the blower is down. The blower creates a lot of friction preventing side ways motion. Only small steering input will work. Rib tires and the super steer axle work a little better.

Try adjusting the lift rod connected to the blower to limit the down travel when the hydro lever is pushed down. Be sure your front tires are inflated to support the weight of the blower as well.

The ballast bucket may be contributing to the front tires lifting. Wheel weights in the rear wheels only might help solve the problem.:bigthink:
