Custom hydraulics on 100
As many of you know, I've been working on adding hydraulics to my 100.
I'm using a GM power steering pump running off the back of the engine. To get the rotation correct the pump had to be turned around and I made a jackshaft and used 2 belts to run the pump. Right now I have the relief valve in the pump set at about 700 psi http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/hydro011.jpg http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/hydro010.jpg http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/hydro009.jpg http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/hydro008.jpg A 2 spool valve off of a JD 317 garden tractor. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/hydro004.jpg It will be mounted under the seat since there's nowhere else to mount it where it won't look awkward or be in the way. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/hydro002.jpg The lift cylinder will be on the left side of the dash tower because there is not enough room on the right side with the pump there. I had to cut a 3/8"x6" slot in the tunnel for an arm to attach the cylinder to the new rock shaft. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/hydro001.jpg This is a pic of the cylinder arm attached to the new rock shaft. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/hydro007.jpg Here is the other side of the rock shaft attached to the 3 point lift. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/hydro006.jpg This is the lift bracket for my front blade. I'll have to do some work to my lift rod to clear the pump bracket. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/hydro003.jpg I still need to make a clevis to attach the cylinder to the rock shaft and make the deck lift arms to weld to the rock shaft and then finish welding everything together. Routing the hoses and trying to make it look clean may be the hardest part of this project. There isn't much room to run the hoses inside the frame. |
Great job, Adam! Thanks for sharing your pics.

Thanks guys.
Made a clevis for the cylinder. The end of the rod has been broken off and welded back on so I will try to clean up the weld and make it look a little better. At least they welded it back on straight. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...det/clevis.jpg Mounted the valve under the seat and started plumbing it. Need to make the hoses from the valve to the lift cylinder yet. I'd like to add a filter to the return line if I can find a small one. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...adet/valve.jpg New rock shaft. Need to make the pins for the deck lift arms and finish welding it. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...rockshaft2.jpg http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...rockshaft1.jpg Started making the levers for the valve. Have to make a bracket for them to mount to and pivot on. They're just mocked up for now. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...et/levers2.jpg http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...et/levers1.jpg |
That is some mighty fine work!

OK - I have the PS pump, can you fabricate the rest? :beer2: That looks great, I'd love to do that to my 70 once I get it back together.

Found the filter I want to use. It's an inline transmission/ power steering filter. I'll have to see if any of the local parts stores carry them.

Got the hydraulics going today. The speed is about perfect. It takes right at 1 second to go full stroke with the engine running about 1/2 throttle. Put on my rear blade and it had no problem lifting it. I still need to finish welding the front mount for the cylinder before I try to lift too much weight with it. Going to make a guard for the left side to cover the clevis and lift arm. I'd hate to get my leg pinched by it. Then finish tying up the hoses and add a filter. I found out Autozone sells an inline power steering filter that should work perfect. I plan on running lines to the front and back with quick connects for the other spool of the valve. I'll get some more pics this weekend.
