LT2185 Electric?
Considering replaced the burnt out gas engine with an electric motor.
Anybody try this, or have thoughts? Advantages being setting the electric motor at fixed speed, and letting the transaxle control mower speed, and being quiet! No worries about cutting deck- already built an 36" electric cutter. Thoughts? |
There was a poster, that came here about 6 months to a year ago, and did what something like you are talking about, with a different brand of tractor. He done a write up about it.

I'm waiting to hear a price on that MOTENERGY ME-1004 motor.
I see a kit of replacement brushes for it is $99.00. 1800 watt DC Brushless motors are available for $100 or so, but do need a controller- another $100 or so. Do I really need 13 HP? As we all know, 13 HP electric is not the same as a 13 HP gas engine. |

Assuming you are talking about the 1800 watt motors like they put on kids electric go carts and mini bikes, I don't think that would power a lawn tractor more than a couple times across the yard. |
Since the 1800 watt motor will only be driving the transaxle, not the cutter blades too, I'll let you know how she pulls!
Now to find/fabricate a coupler between the 1/2" motor shaft and the tapered, keyed input to the transaxle. Open for ideas! |
