My father stopped by the other day with a relic from his past. He had found an engine that he had and its the only cub cadet thing he has left out of all the cub cadet items he had. He had over 10 tractors but divorce lead to him selling off all his stuff, except for this one engine that he dug up while cleaning in the garage. He didn't say much just dropped it off and said it's only missing and oil pan. If anyone could give me some information about the engine it would appreciate it.

Well it’s a k series Kohler.

Engine info is usually on the tin that covers the flywheel. If you look on the bearing plate near the top there might be a k number that would tell you more things.

I’m guessing if it’s sat like that for a while it might not be in great shape inside.

Head gasket is a common k series head gasket. Could go on lots of engines.

Measure the bore diameter. That will tell you the size of the engine. Looks like it has a cam cover, so it's not a 7/8 hp. Rear cover plate appears to be the small one, so it's a 10 or 12 hp. Not much else we can tell from that pic.... upside down and from that angle.
