#2 Tiller Apart for Mods.

I'm going to mount a 14 HP engine to a #2 tiller and one of the first things I have to do is swap the input shaft end for end. So I pulled everything off and split the case. I don't want to make anybody mad, but one set of tines wiggled off by hand and the other side with a pry bar and a few thumps of a small sledge.

I'm assuming it has been apart before because there was drift punch marks on the bearing lock collars. I expected it to be full of grease, but instead it looks like someone sprayed a can or two of open gear lube in there before closing it up. There was no gasket between the case halves.

I don't have a Deere farm dealer anywhere near me to get the Corn Head grease, so what can I use for lube? And how much will I need?

: pics were too big to load.

I'm a fan of a BFH! when needed. :biggrin2::beerchug:
Not sure for grease but if you happen to see or find it in your area, the KENDALL SUPER Blu is an outstanding, very highly rated,
high pressure, and outstanding wheel bearing grease, that I think would be suitable for that application. Others will chime in,
on what they like, just my :TwoCents: It comes in a tube for a gun and tubs.
I use it for all my bearing applications.
