Front End Loader guys, power steering needed?

Morning Everyone,

I have a 149 that I have for a long time wanted to build a front end loader for. I am beginning to collect parts and research how others have built theirs. I have a design I am going to be going with (built the 3D model at work :biggrin2:) but I would like to know if anyone who has a front end loader on their tractor finds that power steering is needed, especially when there is a load in the bucket?

Thanks

The first couple months with my loader I didn’t think it was needed as I was just moving snow around. Turns out snow provides turning a lot of help 😉. I am currently in process of adding power steering to my 1450. On dry pavement with weight in the bucket I wasn’t able turn. You can get by with turning gradually as you move but it’s not very enjoyable. Perhaps with more ballast on the rear you could help this out.

Good luck with the build.

Without a doubt

I just used the ross steering upgrade with the thrust bearing and it seems fine I've got 75 lbs on each wheel, 160 lbs of suitcase weights on the back with an additional 60-80 lbs of misc weights and it will lift way more than one can safely handle with these small machines, power steering might just make one un-aware of how much your really trying to handle ! One of these with a bucket sure beats a wheelbarrow but definitely know the limits or bad things happen !:bigthink:
