UK puller
I am just starting to build a puller for my boy.
In the uk the rules are that we can only run stock engines in his age group up to 16hp so What's the pros and cons to running hydro gearbox versus manual. No one runs hydro here but then we will be first to run a cub in his class:bigthink: as they are in short supply here. I know I will lose a little power by running hydro but will it stand up to the job, Any advice welcome, Thanks |
Just bumping your post up so maybe someone will respond--only a couple guys on this site pull.
I doubt you will have any trouble with a hydro and a STOCK engine. The driveline is the first place it seems goes in heavy pulling. Shearing spiral pins, busting clutch discs, slipping clutches, tearing out "rag joints". Obviously you have no clutch since you have a hydro. Post what model Cadet you have. Also, look at Midwest Super Cub--they sell lots of stuff to pullers, may help you wrap your head around things. |
Hydros typically don't perform well. The pump robs to much power from the engine. Gear drive is definitely the best way to go if you can find one.
