QA snow thrower “fingers” ?

What is the purpose of the snow thrower chute “fingers” ?

ol'George 02-11-2019 08:56 AM

To keep yer fingers/hand out of the chute while in operation.

Not many around, most folks removed them.

I agree with George. They are more of a "pain in the a$$" when wet snow plugs them up all the time.

Thank You ! Wondered if it was something scientific ,like to straighten the snow stream. But fingers for finger protection makes more sense.

It’s called a “deflector guard”.

I suspect they are also there to help slow down larger hard objects that might get thrown out of the chute, and also to break apart the snow a little so it spreads out better.

So maybe multi-duty? Thanks.
