I've looked into it a little bit, and managed to find some info on another Cub forum about it. It is indeed an Original but with hydrostatic drive. The engine is a 10 horse instead of 7. Supposedly there were actually 2 of these built, and the other one kept its original 7 horse. Because of the driveshaft running through they had to offset the whole tower to clear the steering column.
From what I read, it was an experimental unit built as a demonstration of the Sundstrand hydrostatic drive unit to show that it could be done. Of course, we didn't actually see a hydrostatic Cub until the 123.
I don't want to take all the information and restate it here, not sure if you'e ever seen ihcubcadet.com, but its another good Cub forum. This thread has all sorts of info and pictures of the unit, as well as a black and white photo of the supposed 2nd experimental unit. I highly reccomend checking it out: https://www.ihcubcadet.com/threads/p...-original.310/
