School Bus Yellow ?

So would School bus Yellow ace hardware paint and some rustoleum Automotive primer be a good choice of paint or is it considered cheap?

If You a going to use spray cans I've found that rustoleum gloss marigold is much closer to the old federal yellow that cubs were painted with than the school bus yellow ! just my opinion though ,and opinions are like a------ everybody's got one !!:beerchug:

Cheaping out on paint...

The quality of the paint you put on your restored tractor can make or break the success of your restoration. Why would anyone want to put rattle can paint (that is thin as water) on something that you want to last (not rust out) for a long, long time!:bash:
Go buy a Harbor Freight gravity feed spray gun for $10 (the purple one) and the right color Cub Cadet paint from your Cub dealer. You will be able to thin the paint for the temperature you are spraying and add hardener, which will make your paint shiny and durable, plus make it dry quickly! John Deere "buff" primer works great over bare metal and makes a good base coat for Cub Cadet yellow paint. Also, JD reducer can be used for all your single stage enamel paint as well.

When in doubt, don't CHEAP OUT! Once you take this step beyond the rattle cans and learn to mix and spray a quality finish, you will be much happier with the results you achieve!:beerchug:
