OK, I would guess some of you have seen the ring gear snubbers that are for sale by now. We've been using something similar for at least 15 years. its not a new discovery. I have to credit Chuck Vogel for this one though. all you need is a 3/8 x 2 1/2 in long stud with an allen head. a 3/8 long nut and a 3/8 X 1 bolt and lock washer.

on the right side the forward bolt hole that holds the axle tube on. drill it all the way through and tap it.

thread the stud through till it bottoms out on the ring gear, back it off an 1/8 turn and lock it in place with the long nut.

counter sink the back side of the axle tube that match's up with the long nut with a 5/8 drill bit so the tube will slid over the top of the long nut. use the 3/8x1 bolt to hold the tube to the long nut.

in the end you can't see that there was ever anything done to it

the rearend in the lower right pic is getting a Super Cub 2 speed gear box. that's why the top shaft looks different.

Awesome Idea Don! At what HP would you say you should do this?

I've been doing this on PS/SS and open class tractors

Digging up an old thread, but where would one find a stud with the hex drive, searched everywhere but no luck ?

McMaster Carr or Fastenel
