Perfect match paint

Just a note to tell everyone. I wanted to repaint my 1610. I had a hard time finding paint to match. I bought a 6 ounce spray can from a cub dealer for $17.00. That was a waste of money, not even close. My brother in-law is a painter. He said just try Sherwin Williams. So I called and said I needed a Rustolium type paint to match my cub cadet. They said bring in a chip of paint and we will see what we can do. Well, they made me a quart. it matches perfect. I used a small roller to apply it. It looks sprayed on, and matches to the tee.

Hey pappygold,

Glad to hear you found some paint you like
Get us some pictures if you have a chance.

FYI, there are at least 3 shades of yellow sold by Cub Cadet.

And when you think about it, there really is no "perfect" match. Mixing variations occur when paint is hand-mixed, as it's impossible to get 'perfect' ratios of mixed colors.

At any rate though, the Sherwin-Williams paint you bought is probably much higher quality than the CC rattle can:ThumbsUp:

Just a note, something I learned !!!
I was pricing paint for the two Im gonna paint sometime in my life, lol, Priced Valspar, Case IH, Dupont, PPG, Sherwin williams, and NAPA, probably others I cant think of right now !!! Everyones paint is "the best" I personally wanted PPG or dupont, Name brand high dollar, its gotta be good stuff, be tough, and be resistant to fading.I did however talk in lengh to a guy that has painted for umteen years spraying cars, He was knoledagable, he is a sherwin williams dealer, He did a pretty darn good job convincing me that the sherwin williams stuff is top notch, so I WAS gonna get sherwin willims.I also learned that the NAPA stuff is made buy Sherwin williams, they have varying degrees of quaility, even have a gallon of epoxy with the catalist for about 50 dollars. The gentelman will mix for me quarts with the catalist and something else, cant think of what its called, depending on the temp, ready to spray at no extra charge. Now for some reason that I havent drawn out of anyone yet, people dont seem to like the NAPA, but if its made by sherwin williams its good enough for me!!!!
and the more I thought about it I would not be buying the 80 dollar a quart ppg or dupont Id be buying there econome lines like shop line or Nasson. So NAPA dont seem to bad to me,lol
Just thought id share something small i learned in my trillion hour research project on what the heck im gonna paint my beloved cubs with.I have spent countless hours trying to figure this out, lol, this for some reason, probably due to my inexperience, was a huge decision for me.

Me too. I'm like 67hydro in that I research for hours on something like this... even on tie rod ends or new hydro drive line. And to benefit from another's time is very generous to say the least.

Hopefully for the next Cub I do I'll get some good stuff.

For my 127 I really needed to mow the lawn and prove to the wife that spending $200 on an "Old piece of junk" was worth it.

Tractor supply had rattle can Cub yellow and white.
Turned out to be the newer cream color than white but it looks good, mow's good, and got the wife off my back.

I picked up a spray paint can of the "Cub Cadet Yellow" from Tractor Supply a few weeks ago. Just for a little touch-up on my recently aquired 129. The paint is by Valspar and I'm quite happy with the match. Nearly spot-on. :)

painting

I also painted the deck on my 1610. I went to a little hardware store called Handyman. They have everything. I bought a pint of Rustoleum paint in almond color. Again, I used a small roller to apply it to the deck, and it looks pretty darn good. Not too bad for an old guy.

I used the rattle can Valspar IH white from TSC to paint my wheels and it matches pretty close. The Cub paint they have is for the newer cubs and is actually called beige not white.
