Transmission alloy?
I think someone on here said it, as well as I've seen on other tractor forums, that SOME of the 2000 series tractors had cast iron transmissions before they switched to aluminum.
What's the best way to tell what it's made of? Based on what we've determined on another post, my 2155 seems to be a 1996 model so it's one of the earlier builds in the series of that helps as well. |

As of 2013 they are cast iron per this brochure

I feel like an idiot Roland. Magnet doesn't stick to mine so I guess it's aluminum. Looks like the later models in the 2000 series switched to cast iron...

Early 2000 series or Pre 2011 Models are aluminum Housings
The 2500 series was a Cast Iron Housing 2011 to 2015 2000 series was a Cast Iron housing actually the same Trans outer case as a Cub Cadet 3100 model. But late 2000 series Had a BDU10 Pump instead of the BDU 20 Pump found on the 3100 model but same outer case XT3 Cast Iron Housing |
At the end of the day what difference does it make to the quality of the mow ?
p.s. how are your side panels Oz |

Other than the added weight from the cast iron vs aluminum, which I assume helps with ground work, is there any other benefit from one or the other?
