2140 Trans Fluid
You have got to be kidding me that trans fluid is $20 a quart, for the Cub Cadet Drive System Oil!!
https://www.amazon.com/MTD-737-3120-.../dp/B005UATP88 I have read that I can use 10w-30 Full Synthetic oil as a replacement/substitute, is this true? Thanks, Eric |
If Ya buy 5 gal of HyTran at a Case/IH dealer you can get it for about $4/qt
That's what I do. |

I would check the local IH dealer first. |
Yes, that is the oil Cub recommends. :bigthink:GM tells me to use A/C Delco filters and Ford tells me to use Motorcraft.....wonder why? It wouldn't be because they want more money is it?
:beatdeadhorse:This issue has been talked about for years on all forums. I now run Rotella T 15W-40 standard diesel motor oil now in all my stuff. I'm still waiting for my transmission to fail.:biggrin2: It's not a money thing cause Rotella is about $4/quart but my local Case/IH dealer closed up shop a few years ago. |
Hydraulic system oil sold in farm stores for $30 for a 5-gal pail. Works in $100,000+ farm equipment, so I've decided it's good enough for a used Cub.

Good to know Oak, looks like some Rotella is on the shopping list then

This is the correct fluid for your 2140. It is a Synthetic Blend.

Thinking about this in my transaxle for the AGS system. Thoughts? Concerns? I would of course by the Synthetic version just like the Cub Cadet Hydraulic/Transmission Drive System Oil.
