Box Blade

I built a box blade patterned somewhat after a genuine IH #40 box blade.I found the metal with the flange already on it at a salvage steel yard. The "box" is removable so I can use the sqare tubing as a multi-purpose tool bar.
I realize it won't "cut" dirt or cut below grade and I don't expect it to.But I think it will work for leveling gravel. It is not too heavy,,,I have a spring assist.
I will paint it IH white.

Those pics are great, thanks for sending them. Nice work on the blade.
Good to see that you sized it just right to fit on the coffee table .:biggrin2:

Good looking blade you have there. Nice work. I would like to eventually go a heavier route like you did, but needed one asap, and bought a 38" Brinly off Northern Tool. For what i needed, it works so far, but I imagine I'll beat it to death eventually.

Thanks for the compliments.
Aternus, your blade is nice, if it does the job, that's what matters. I am liking the sleeve hitch implements less and less. Too much movement. I thought I would try the actual IH Cub Cadet style setup. But I suppose a real 3 point hitch would be best. The next tractor I build will have a real 3 point hitch with power lift. Meanwhile, here are some pics of the finished and painted box blade. It's a shame to put something so purdy to work.

I used my new box blade.

My brother had some gravel delivered for his driveway and the driver did a terrible job at spreading it. So, I took my homebuilt box blade over to help him out.
It did surprisingly well,it actually would push gravel going backwards better than pulling gravel going forward.
Here are some pictures he took, although he didn't get any good shots of me pulling a lot of gravel. The job turned out nicely.

He'll probably be calling you back in the spring to put it all back from the yard!!:biggrin2:
