Craigslist deposits

About 3 weeks ago I lost out on a Mott flail mower that came up on craigslist about 20 miles from me. :Cry1: Two days ago it was a 782D twin stick that was about 15 miles up the road. :Cry1: :bash2: :Cry1:

Both times I was 2nd guy in line and, the buyer secured the item, prior to visiting the seller, with a deposit.

So my question is, how they do that? :bigthink: Wire transfer?, bit coin?

Any of you people put deposits on CL stuff, and if so, how?

My guess is paypal. Hope for the sellers sake it was not a scam situation..

People come in second all the time and lose, you lose.... I tell most sellers when I am coming to get something to remove the ad, keeps all the other buyers away.
I think I know who got those items, but I am just guessing.

I agree.. paypal be likely! Could be Venmo. Or straight up cash.

Keep your eye on it. It might come back up for sale.

Walmart also.
A couple of years ago I had to pay someone for services rendered while I was on the road. Removal of a yard debris pile that would have resulted tank the closing on a home sale if not removed that day.
Anyways, upon completion I "wired" money via their website and a credit card.
I think it cost $10.
At the end you get a code number to give the recipient.
They walk into any WM with the code and receive the money at the service desk.
All within 20 minutes or so.
