Return to neutral
This is a HDS 2155 with hydrostatic. When I let off the reverse pedal, it snaps back to neutral pretty hard, almost too hard. When I let off of forward, it slowly or sometimes way too slowly (several seconds) comes back to neutral. Is there an adjustment or spring that controls this? Thanks!
I think this is also why my cruise control won't stay engaged. There isn't enough return tension to keep the cruise teeth engaged. It will engage, but after a few seconds, the lever creeps back to disengaged. I cleaned out the teeth and it works fine if you hold the lever down manually. |

There is a small pneumatic cylinder listed as a "damper" in the parts list that is the only thing that seems somewhat obvious to me. I guess I was hoping for some confirmation before throwing $50 away on a unnecessary part if this was just adjustment-related.

Moose, I haven’t performed the procedure but on page 21 of the owner’s manual it refers to a problem similar to the one you are describing and walks you thru the steps to correct it.
