Front axle/Steering

I just want to get this right. I guess first I put on new tie rod ends. But to me there is a discrepancy. The picture of the tractor in the manual show the nuts for these facing upwards. The line drawing implies that they face downward. Which is correct?

And can you tell me if #8 in the drawing should have a bend? Here's what mine looks like.

The only play I have left in the steering is on the left steering knuckle. So I guess I just look for a left side "spindle"??? Thanks in advance. (at least now I have a full steering range.)

I think your drag link is supposed to be straight.

The slop on the left side is typically wear from the roll pin and the spindle which is very common on narrow frame front ends.

You could aquire new parts or another option to repair the existing is described well in this link:

Scroll down to "Fixing a Loose Fitting Drag Link Arm -125, 127 & 147" (this article applies to all narrow frame front ends)

drysumpjet,

Thank you for the link. I feel kinda stupid. I've been visiting that site but never noticed the steering section. That's what happens when you are a motor head. Thanks!
