On the tractor there is a plug in the rear cover plate, remove it and fill from there, fill all the way until it starts to dribble out!! On the hydraulic unit to lift the implements there is a plug you fill from on the side/top.Im pretty sure your talking about the tractor, because you said filter, but figured Id add the hydro unit for the lift also!!!

If it was me Id remove the rear cover plate, get a new gasket and clean all the gunk out in the bottom of the tranny,IF there hasnt been regular filter and oil changes.

Go to your rear end. On the differential you will see a plug with a square the size of a 3/8" drive ratchet. Remove the plug and add Hytran till it's to the opening of the plug. All done after you put your plug back in.

Like 67 hydro said get a new gasket and remove the cover to drain and clean it out, I have never seen one that didnt have at least a little sludge in it.

Here is a picture of the cover plate with the fill/ check plug.

FYI, the "sludge" in the trannys is normal. The hy-tran absorbs water and forms that sludge. That's one of the reasons we really recommend hy-tran for the rear ends.
