Custom exhaust

My wife mentioned to me how she enjoys cutting the grass but doesn't like the exhaust smell from my old cubs.

So I started thinking if I could get the exhaust to exit out the back she might not mind it as much. So I got about 5' of 1-1/4 flex pipe an adapter to fit from the pipe into a Harley slip on muffler I had sitting around. Bolted the muffler up to the axle, took off the stock muffler and angled the pipe down slightly, slid and clamped the flex pipe over it, painted the flex pipe with high temp paint.

So here's how it came out, I've ran it three times so far pushing snow on my driveway. It quieted it down, now I only here the engine and drive shaft. No exhaust smell!

Looks good!

Where'd you get the flex pipe?:bigthink:

I found the flex pipe on Amazon
I bought a 25' roll, used 15' to vent the exhaust on my generator out of my garage, 5' for my 147 cc, and have 5' left to do the exhaust on my 149.

Great job!

That’s not a bad idea, I have the muffler coming out as a stack on my loader tractor but may use your method instead, thanks

Looks very well done!! Just curious about clearance for a deck on the cub. I have to raise my deck all the way in order to load onto my trailer, so I was curious if you had enough clearance for a deck all the way up.

Cub cadet 123 sorry haven't replied to your question, I'm a self employed contractor and have been really busy lately, so haven't been on this fourm.
To answer your question, The flex pipe runs up under the foot rest and attaches to the muffler past the point of where the back of the deck would raise.
I haven't mounted the deck yet but from the measurements I took I dont be live it's going to be in the way of raising the deck.
Hopefully Il be mounting it soon so will update when I do.

No problem Jeff, I understand about a busy lifestyle all too well. I like what you have done and like the purpose it serves of quieting down the cub. Thanks for your response. I look forward to seeing your future pictures when you get your deck mounted on it.
