Noob with a 1450
 

Got a couple of questions....

Picked up a 1450 last night. Traded it for my old non running craftsman lt4000 and $100. I think I got a fair deal. Hey, at least this one runs.

1. How can I tell what year tractor it is?
2. Only the right side of the deck lifts up. It looks like a pin has slipped through a hole on the left side under the frame. Does it just need a washer and cotter pin?
3. What model snow thrower do I need for this tractor?
4. How do I adjust that cam thing on the right side by my feet? What is it's purpose? It doesn't seem to move.

First, welcome to only Cub Cadets.

Try this kink if you do not have the owners manual.(Operators Manual for the QuiteLine Series.... Q/L Series ) It is on page 3 in the Technical Library-Tractors.

Hope this will help.

1. If you post the serial number, we can tell you what year it is.

2. Your pin is broken and missing. The missing pin is what we call a "Spirol" pin. The technical term is "Coil Spring Pin". You just need to get a new one and install it. And no, a roll pin probably won't hold up.

3. QA36A or QA42A. The 36 is s36" wide. The 42 is 42" wide.

4. The cam thing is to control your implement height. You adjust it to basically control your deck height. The lift will hit the cam and not allow it to drop any farther. You just need to lossen the black plastic bolt, adjust the cam, and then retighten. Just make sure you don't have any pressure on it.

Thanks. The only issue I see is that the arm that hits that cam doesn't seem to move when the deck moves.

Like ajgross said loosen the black knob part and the cam will rotate to adjust. It dosnt move with the lift, it stays put and the lift arm runs into it. Get your height where you want it and rotate the cam around till it hits and tighten it up. Hope this helps:biggrin2.gif:

That;s exactly what I am talking about. But...that lift arm on the right doesn't seem to be attached to anything.

If you have a 1450 with a hydro lift then there will be no handle. It is for attaching a lift rod to blower of snow plow.

If the arm isn't moving, then you probably have a broken pin on it. Just look and see if the pin that holds it on is there or not.

I think this may be directly related to the fact that the left side of the deck doesn't go up and down. Am I on the right track?
