149 question
1 Attachment(s)
hey everybody, bear with me i'm kinda green. wanna pick some brains. sorry if i'm using the wrong terms, but noticed on my 149 with 14hp, the belt running from the generator to the crank pulley is rubbing the bar that moves to engage the pto. seems to be at all times as far as i can tell. don't really see an adjustment except to lengthen or shorten the throw on the pto engagement rod, which i don't think would help. this just doesn't seem right to me. any ideas? sorry about the pic being sideways. it's not on my computer

The PTO disengage rod should go through the center of the belt. Or in simpler terms, the belt goes on top of the rod, not underneath it.

awesome! thanks! won't be long and i'm sure i'll have another question

It doesn't go through the belt on mine?

Correct belt is IH-401960-R1
Just put one on my 128. Same belt fits all Cubs w/SG's except the 100, 70 and the originals. |

thanks everybody!

I too think the belt is too short.
With the correct belt, the top S/G bolt is usually in the middle of the adjustment slot. |

Did you get it fixed?
If the belt is the correct size, then I think it may be possible that this bracket (with the red arrow pointing to it) on your 149 is upside down. It should be like the one in the picture below. If it is turned upside down, then it is likely that your pto engagement linkage is a bit too low causing the interference. It is possible that someone took it off for a restore/whatever and put it on upside down. There is a roll pin that goes through that bracket to hold it on to the end of the pto engage handle. If yours is upside down, it would be an easy fix. |
