cub 149, 169, 1450

My dad has his original 149 that he bought around 73, I have great memories of mowing with it when I was a teenager (37 now) and would like to restore it someday. Beautiful tractors. I don't know much about electrical or engines but am learning. I became an adult about two years ago and picked up a 129 and cosmetically redid it and last year I picked up a 169 that someone had in a back yard/complet and re-did it. I have to try and get some pics up. I've found some good information on this site recently in the last week or two. I've visited the cub cadet forum elsewhere but find this site very helpful. I wanted a quietline and I just found one.

but this 1450 is not running but turns over when bi-passing the ignition switch by connecting the posts on the selonoid. I think maybe a safety switch but am confused. the previous owner sadly passed and the son wanted to just get rid of it. The previous owner had a wire coming out of the PTO running all the way back to a homemade switch out of the dash tower by the fuse, and then back to the battery. Not sure if the dash switch went out or something in the wiring to the dash. the pto turns when I crank the engine from the jump-starting selonoid method. I'd like to get it back to original use. Any help would be appreciated. not sure about navigating this site yet for questions

thanks guys! trying to figure out how to post pics from my Pictures section in the computer (love my album of before and after pics on the 169.

If you try to post them straight from your computer, you will have to resize them in order to meet the maximum size requirements of the site. I use photobucket.com to handle my pictures. I make a an album name and then upload the pictures to that album. Once the pictures are saved to the album you can click on IMG address under the picture and copy that location. Then in your post paste the IMG address and it will show up in the actual post. I always do a preview before submitting to make sure I got everything right.
If this sounds too cumbersome, you can google for a jpeg resizer and download the program and use that.
Max size of a jpeg is 73.2 KB and 450 width and 450 height

Photobucket allows for much larger pictures to be used, which is why I prefer that source. Hope this helps some. I am sure some other guys can voice some help and ideas. :)

Like DWayne, I also use Photobucket. It's so easy to use. You should have no problems with it. :beerchug:

The 169 turned out to be a 129 with hydro lift. When I went to get it, I knew immediately something was amiss, due to no headlights, no hour meter, and only 9 bolts in the head, LOL. The Serial # tag was missing. We finally found a number on the motor which said K301. It was in rough shape, but not totaled. I was able to talk him out of the rear 3 point set up to mount onto my 782. So I will continue looking for a 169. I still know in my heart I saw a 169 in his barn, but he did say he had a 1650 in there, so maybe I got confused over the course of time. Hoping early next year around tax time I will do a serious search for one.

A 1650, eh? Hmmm....sounds very interesting. :drool2:
