Matching Boots for the 73......
well my 73's big brother 127 has a nice set of 23x10.5 Lugs on the back, little bro was feeling a bit left out. So after talking me into it, he is gettin a fresh pair of lugs of his own, not as big, but lean and mean 6-12.....
no lugs for little bro..... http://jlefantephoto.smugmug.com/Mac...92_7oat9-M.jpg Ahhhh yes, new rims and boots !!!! :) http://jlefantephoto.smugmug.com/Mac...84_oQ2fg-M.jpg http://jlefantephoto.smugmug.com/Mac...26_PLg8n-M.jpg |

I have yet to order them yet, but these are what I plan to order from GCT:
http://www.greaterclevelandtire.com/...e-Super/Detail $103/pair You can get two of these (notice this is the price for a pair of tires) for what most places want for one Carlisle tru power! If you don't like these, here are a couple more choices they offer: http://www.greaterclevelandtire.com/...rencher/Detail $117/pair and these: http://www.greaterclevelandtire.com/...uro-Lug/Detail $98/pair all of them roughly half price, most less than 1/2 price, of the carlisle, sure some may say the carlisles are a better tire, but I doubt they the carlisle will outlast 2 sets of any of these tires! |
Nanco
Just a heads up the destine and nanco are same tires and my 6-12 are nanco. They are great quality.
|
dual 6-12s are super cool! Im glad I did mine that way, and I cant wait to get to ride it again!! Darned weather slowing me down! :beerchug:
|
Nice tires for your 73. My 982 has nanco's and I haven't had a problem at all. Those will look nice once they're mounted. Can't wait for the pics.
|
They do look nice and aggresive. Would love to see some duals with those. :) :beerchug:

Shipping is not that bad either. I just bought a set of the 23x10.5x12 duro tires. Will find out in a few weeks how good they are. |
For the first link, I checked and shipping would be $25 to my area.
|
I still wonder if perhaps some of the asian tire manufacturers cut corners on the rubber compounds used. I had a pair of Nanco tires on the front of a 128 I used to own, and the tractor had always been stored inside, the tires even had the quills on them yet, but they were more weathered than the 30-year-old lug tires on the back of the tractor.
|
Man them prices are right!! I may have to get me a set of them.
|
didnt someone say at one time that the 10.5 wide deestones were only as wide as a 8.5 carlilse???
|
I have several sets of tires from them and have yet to be disappointed. They are close enough for me that I go pick them up and save on the shipping. I wait till I get enough guys who want tires and we all split the gas price and I go pick them up. The Deestone's on my 1282 don't seem to be any narrower, they aren't as flat as the Carlilse's. The tire's made today will never last like the old gum dipped tire's. Almost every tire manufacture use's the same compound. They are highly regulated by Gov. You can't buy good tire's anymore I don't care how much you spend. Case in point, I bought Mickey Thompson Baja radials for my truck, I spent countless hours reading feedback on these tire's. Had trouble finding any bad comments about them. Well I have less than 10,000 miles on them and 1 has been replaced because the tire split the whole way around the center of the tread. The rest are dry rotted all the way around the tire next to the rim. They are 2 years old and junk. My BFG's that I had on there before are sitting outside uncovered and don't show any dry rot at all they are at least 10 years old. Go buy new BFG they will dry rot with in 2 years. It's the nature of the beast. No one make's a good tire anywhere. So buy them cheap and use them for as long as you can and throw them away when their rotted out, because you won't wear them out. Just my opinion.

Sweet Jay! Your 127 looks awesome with those ags and looking forward to seeing the 73 all agged up:beerchug:

I image any brand tire will dry rot away before you wear them out, unless you are spending a lot of time spinning them on hard surfaces. I have been beating the bushes (internet) looking for the best deal, as far as I know, GCT has the best prices including shipping, if someone can find them cheaper, pipe up, I don't owe GCT anything...LOL. |
Looks great! A set of tri-ribs on the front will finish it off.
|
They look awesome, Jay! :IH Trusted Hand:

I love my 73...... Its very easy to drive and sips gas........I kept the original size 6-12 rear tires, i think it looks cool. I cant wait to paint the fenders......That and the front wheels are next project. |
there is quite a difference in tire sizes
I had posted links to GCT about deestone tires, looking on ebay found this ad:
http://cgi.ebay.com/TWO-New-Deestone...item53e5ebd6fa Look at the last of the three pics, it shows a comparison of the 3 ag tires they have available, the deestones are dwarfed by the duros and tru powers, of course these are unmounted and uninflated, but still quite a difference in size. Was sure I wanted the deestones, now may be reconsidering and going with the tru powers. The narrative in the ad tells about the differences as well, but seeing is believing.... |

OK Jay, your little 73 has really made me home sick for the one I use to own,it was a plain Jane w/fenders "rattl'n smoker" when I got it...6 months later fresh engine build w/crank and loaded options and was a sweet worker for garden or blade chores. Of all of the 7 hp models built the 73 is the least, 1X8 WF 86 took it's place. Take my advise Jay,do not let anyone talk you out of it...I did and have been sick since!! Very sweet little machine you have there!
