100's coming along

Well my barn find is looking some better. Rebuilt the carb. Matt G. told me how to loosen up a stuck clutch, two new cables and it runs and drives like a new tractor that has a few hours on it! I did find out the hood was home made that's why it don't look right, and had no ornament on it.
I put the after market steering wheel on because the original was so broken up, cracked all around.
Still don't know what the seat if from, but it's ok for now. I did a little painting to clean it up a bit, along with making a battery holder and fuel line filter and shut off valve. (enough hose clamps)
To say I'm really getting into these older tractors would be an understatement, I'm lovin' every bit of it!

Nice batt. bracket! These IHCCs rock! Not bad homemade hood! Lots of clamps but works and gets the job done. Nice IHCC 100!:IH Logo:

Thanks for the kind words. I started working on the late 80's lawn tractors which are still alot of fun to do. But then these two GT's came along and, well I guess I got bitten by the CUB BUG:ThumbsUp:and it's been down hill from there.
Last night started to work on a hand clutch for the 100,:bigthink: so I can get some seat time on it. Getting tired of just starting it and pushing it around the shop, it's time to enjoy it! For what it is, a great machine:beer2:

If you make a hand clutch, add a stronger clutch return spring so you that your longer hand clutch lever can't bounce around and make the clutch slip and glaze the friction disc.

Thanks Matt, never thought of it.
Makes since though.

forgive my ignorance, but what is the hand clutch? and purpose it is to be used for? Ive never heard of one on a cub, something close to a jocky shifter on motorcycles?

sfaulkner 01-08-2011 07:13 AM

Thenire, that's my youngest boy on the f20. We just brought it home and he was checking things out. The quote is Dr. Hook and the sone is Rollingstone. The first time I heard that song I rolled in the floor.

Dieseldan123, a hand clutch is the same as the foot clutch only you operate it with your hand. Lots of the old tractors used a hand clutch, John Deere use them quite a bit. We talked about doing that with my sons original, but I wanted to keep it "original". I have another original to restore and I would love to put a hand clutch on it, that is why I am so interested in seeing how zippy does it.
