North Carolina checking in !!

Hello everyone!!! El Dee here glad to be a part of this forum!! Myself I'm 50 and have been a Collision Repair Technician since departing High School in 1978..I can sling some paint too!!! Try and keep that a secret though!! My hobbies include anything Loud and Fast!! Being I'm a mostly broke country farm boy and given my hobbies I can turn a pretty mean wrench. Like I said I'm happy to be here...I've lurked once or twice but I'm here now!!

Back in 96 my old Murray and Craftsman mowers were in constant need of repair. Just too dang much grass here on the Ponderosa...My buddy had a 782 and I liked it pretty good...He still has it BTW but it is in need of repairs...His new mower is green...TRAITOR!! I found a '88 1810 Hydro down at the IH dealer when picking up parts for my '61 140...It was like new and still is for the most part...Last year I added AG tires on the rear and ribs on the front....I also rebuilt the starter...Not bad for 14 years of service..I also picked a '09 Snapper Pro Zero Turn w/a 23HP Kawasaki...I questioned the dealers sanity when he tried to get me to trade the Cub...I can cut faster with the Snapper......but I love my Cub...CCC or not..She has a home for life.

:Welcome2: El Deer! Glad to have you! Cool to see another NC member! I live near the Fayetteville area.

El Dee 12-13-2010 01:08 PM

Fayetteville

Hey ACecil I'm pretty near Fayetteville too...Physical address is Lillington,,,but more like between a pine and an oak just off the Cape Fear..36 minutes too the "Ville City Limits on Bragg Blvd thru Spring Lake...Timed it the other day...How do you like this weather..???Too cold for me!!

ACecil 12-13-2010 10:11 PM

Talk about a small world...lol! It's too cold for me too! Maybe, we can meet up sometime. :beerchug:

El Dee 12-14-2010 12:57 AM

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

ACecil I just came in from the shop...It's going on 1am...funny though it's colder now than it was all day it somehow doesn't feel as cold...Windchill I guess..just peaceful and quiet out there now...I plan on taking part here all I can so maybe we can hook up for a visit...I'll post pics of the 1810 when I get it back together...Just the panels are off...nothing major...I searched high and low for the main fuse...traced the wiring harness off the battery even...Someone had pics up of a recent purchase....that's when I saw the fuse on the dash...:bash2:...Yeah....seen it 2 million times...still couldn't find it..Heck I even greased the fuse a few years back...and yeah...when I cleaned the cap all was fixed....Now all my contacts are good and greasy...

Thanks to everyone for welcoming me aboard....

Just a warning El Dee if you hang with Allen you'll end up pulling a plow and having fun like we did at the NC Plow Day.

Plow Day

Methos that was great...Thanx for the link...I'm a bit of a "Plow Head" already..I grew up on a 40 acre spread with tobacco, corn, soy beans and sweet potatoes in the rotation....Cows and hogs too...We had many tractors thru the years...all RED!! With the passage of my Grand Parents and every one else moving and doing other things sadly the farm is history...I did manage to hold tight too a 1961 140 with all the attachments!! I've been a hired driver a few times working for the remaining local farmers...Sadly there numbers are dwindling...I still sport a mighty fine garden....Given the state of the Union that garden may increase in size..."A country boy WILL SURVIVE!!"

I placed an order Sunday night for a fuse holder and a Hydro filter...I repaired my fuse holder but the nut broke when re-installing...It's plastic and a bit odd...plus the new one was $6 so I just ordered up....I've got it running good with an inline fuse plugged into the factory harness...Still I want to keep it as original as possible and no way am I cutting that harness...Now if that Brown Truck will just show up.........

El Dee that's great to hear that you've got the plowing bug! I'm glad you've enjoyed the links as well. We had a blast at that plow day and a little birdie told me that we will be having 2 NC plow days next year! And you can't forget the redneck plow day in pickens sc in April. I'm still trying to find more gardens to plow in the spring. Also looking for some land for another NC plow day but not having any luck around here.

I've never been to Denton but cubs are there and there is a huge swap meet there as well. Big and small tractors are there, plus displays and other events. I'm not sure if any plowing is done I'll let Allen answer that. If you looking for plow days and shows check out the event section of the site.
It's a little snow er slow for events but that's where all the PD and shows are posted at. Some of the PD guys travel quite far to attend plow days.

Denton is an awesome show! My wife and I try to go every year.

Iluvtruks0 12-16-2010 10:41 AM

El Dee, welcome aboard!! Im also from NC located in Midland, about 20 mi east of Charlotte.

2 suggestions for ya: If you can make it to a plow day, you need to do it. Its really awesome seeing these little tractors work like that!

Also, I go to Denton every year and camp usually for 6 days even though the show is a 5 day show. There are things that come to Denton that you'll only see if you come. Its well worth the drive from Fville. Maybe you and Allen can ride together. Whatever you do, try to make it to that show. Bring some money and a trailer because there is a huge swap meet.

I'm North Carolina as well fellow glad to see NC is well represented by you all. Looking at my pics from some of my post I'm not doing sucha a good job representing. If i can find a way to get all of the parts needed to pull a plow with my 1810, I will glady join you guys. I live in Flat Swamp, NC (close to Dover and Cove City) 20 miles New Bern and 20 miles from Kinston and close to nothing. We have a 88 total in land and 53 acres of it are cleared farm land, that we lease out to TRC Farms
