Cub 122 Restoration

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all, thought you like to see where I am at with the 122 i'm restoring, so far I have striped all the metal down to bare bones and had it repainted. I still have not got the K301 back together but I received the new piston, rings & gasket set last week, now I just need to find the time to put it all back together. I also picked up a tiller ( with both extensions! ) and have just got to apply the new deacals. Hopefully buy spring I should be able to get back to gardening with it. ( if I don't then all the reasons I told the wife why I bought this new toy are not going to sit to very well )

Here are a couple of pictures to date!!

Blfuller 11-05-2010 01:55 PM

:beer2: Thanks All,

And Matt,
The only reason you can see the floor is because I had to make room for the cub!!!!!!

johncub7172 11-06-2010 12:14 AM

Very nice tractor! And that tiller is sweet!

Blfuller 11-07-2010 08:02 AM

I was really lucy with the tiller, the guy wanted $250.00 for it but I ended up trading a walk behind tiller for it!! I completly tore it down to bare metal and repainted each piece, I also opened up the gear box, cleaned it out and repacked it with new grease, what a messy job that was.

Can't wait to drop it in the ground the first time!!!!!

Blfuller,
That is a very nice restoration that you have done on the 122. I am learning here , so that looks just like the 102 that I have square fenders and such. OK 102 = 10 Hp and 122 = 12 hp. Starting to get it.:)
Anyway I have the major portion of a tiller too. I was going to haul it away for scrap. In fact it came from a clean up junk day and my neighbor saved it, a snow blade, and a mold board plow (SP). They all have been setting outside for several years. The tiller turns over but needs a complete restoration I think. What I was wondering is what would I need to attach it to the tractor and how are they powered? Belt all the wayfrom the front? If you have time to take some shots of the attachment that would be great. You could P.M. them to me if you want.

Regards,
Chris

Hi all,
I almost have the engine back together, the son and I completly tore it down, installed a new piston, rings and seal kit, we also applied the international decal on the tiller. I'm just waiting on parts for the PTO and I can reinstall the engine.

Blfuller, Very nice work on your 122. When I got mine someone had replaced the short block also because it had the dipstick on the cam cover too. 122's originally came with the dipstick on top of the block. I found the correct block and replaced it before my restore. Love them 122's!!

The little wife on my 122 at RPR.

Finally got to take it for a ride :biggrin2.gif:

It's been a long haul ( I think I started in June ) but my son and I finally got the 122 back together and took it for it's maiden ride........She runs a little rough but I still need to time it and adjust the carb, I also need to adjust the govenor, does anyone know what position on the shaft the bracket should be tightened on too on a K301? Here are a couple of pics of the proud father and son.

Your 982 should have 26/12.0-12's. You can still get these in that size.

Miller Tire is having some Firestone 23 degree special made in 23/10.50-12.
I'm on the wait list for a set.

Blfuller 01-03-2011 03:38 PM

Steve,
