barn find x 2!
4 Attachment(s)
Look what followed me home today. Thought I did pretty good. I went to pick up one and ended up coming home with two.:beer2: Good thing for me I guess.
But we have us a problem. I know the one is a 125, but I have no clue what the other tractor is. I'm sure you all do, so could you help me out here? I'm leaning toward a 100 or 70, but I could be way out in left field, what do you think? Or where is the ID tag on this style tractor? Thanks a bunch for any assistance. |
Yup, the "other tractor" is a 100.
Great find! |
serial number is on a raised casting on the left side of the trans houseing (looking from the front )
you really wont be able to tell if it was a 70 or 100 by the serial number that just depends on which motor is in it |
Quick question on the "100" the ones that I have seen have a hood ornament, was that just for some models, or what? And what is the (plug breather) in the center floor of the tractor for?
|
That "center plug" is a high lo creeper gear (BIG PLUS). The hood ornament is used on all narrow frames except the 106/107 etc models. The one on that tractor was probably removed when the hood was repainted and never put back on.
|
The breather and small shifter is for the creeper gear , nice find.
What kind of seat is that ??? |
Well that almost makes me feel bad, getting both for $5 About time I catch a break!
|
Congrats, on your new to you cubs! You'll enjoy them, especially the 100! :beerchug:
|
The seat is fiberglass, I know nothing else about it.

I checked the hood over, and can't find any filler where there would have been holes for the ornament, do you think it could be the wrong hood? |
That hood looks a little differant. It tapers to front It doesn't look like a hood from a 100 to me. I could be wrong but looks a little differant to me. Nice find tho, wish I had that creeper in mine, you get it running good and you will love it. The 125 looks good to. Congats on your finds. Not many things better than bringing home new cub, but bringing home 2 is way better.
|
Great find on both. What is the serial # on the 100??
|
Great find and even a better price!
|
I'll get the numbers for you. The guy didn't want nothing for the two tractors, but I told him I couldn't take them for nothing. So he said give me $5. OK!:buttrock:
|
ok just cause noone has said it
want to double your money? |

The numbers are, 385058R1 what do they mean?
Thanks |
That's a casting number. On the 70/100, there is a raised pad on the right side of the rearend, and there will be a stamped serial number somewhere on or in the vicinity of that pad.
|
Could this be right? 731 K OR X that's the numbers on the left side sitting on the tractor. Just ahead of axle.
Thanks |
Matt, I don't read so good, you said right, I looked left. The one on the right is "2817" I hope this is right.
Thanks |
This link has pictures showing locations of various serial numbers on different Cub Tractors:

Upon further review, a 9 has suddenly appeared, making it 92817. Final answer!:beer2:
Thanks |
