2023 Garden
 

I tilled up one of my gardens and moved some Brussels Sprouts that I planted back in February. I'm running behind again but it has been so wet here that I can't get in the garden much. How are you guys & gals doing in the garden this year?

Your seed bed looks great. Nice tilling setup too! I have tillers and plows but no time for a garden...I miss that. However, come May I will be planting flowers. How large will your garden be this year?

Nice work. A backhoe attachment would help in digging those trenches on the bota'

Queen of the QL, the one I'm working now is about 50x100 and the back one is about 50x120.

Mr. Lew, yes it will and putting one on there isn't out of the question yet.:biggrin2:

Still too wet and cold here to do much, my gardens included
Looking to get in the fields soon though.
Anhydrous applications are about to start although I have not been called in to drive yet.

I had some red potatoes left over from last year that were trying to sprout so I figured lets throw them in the ground and see how they do.

I got the ole Farmall 100 running and used it to layoff 4 rows. The ground was a little too wet so hopefully they won't rot.

The potatoes & Brussels Sprouts are doing pretty good. I hilled the potatoes earlier this week and ran the TB Horse tiller down all the rows again today.

I got six 50' rows of Ambrosia Sweet Corn planted last Sunday and has already popped up (hard to see in the pic). I have never planted this corn before. Have any of you planted it and if so, is it any good?

I planted four 50' rows of Kentucky Blue Lake Pole Beans last Saturday. I'm not sure how I'm going to support these yet but I have some 5' Trellis Support Netting that I might try with some T-posts. I really like Finsruskw's setup with rebar but I'm thinking I planted these wrong for that method and maybe I planted them too early too, IDK. I planted bush type beans last year and the deer cleaned them out in one night.:angry:

That is a beautiful garden spot. Your Farmall 100 makes me think of my grandfather who had a 100 after he retired from dairy farming. I spent many hours in the seat of that tractor raking hay and hauling hay wagons. My cousin has it now..... I sure wish I could talk him out of it and use it in MY garden! I also have a 1974 Troy-Bilt Horse tiller that I really love. I would also love to have a "real" tractor like your Kubota to run a heavy-duty tiller like that one!

I have been so busy with work and in-laws that I only have a row of kale planted so far. I will get more done, but it will be late. Spent this weekend installing ball joints, tie rods/ends, and a water pump on my FIL's 1994 F150..... Glad to be home tonight so I can go to work tomorrow and rest..... :HeeHee:

What's everyone planning for their garden this season?

I'm eager to get my hands dirty and revamp my garden space. I've been eyeing a few new plants to add, maybe some perennials like tulips or peonies.
I'm also planning to finally tackle that neglected corner of my yard and transform it into a cozy little herb garden. I can already picture myself snipping fresh basil and mint for summer salads and cocktails.
Another thing that's been on my mind lately is updating my garden furniture. I've been eyeing some rattan pieces like this corner lounge set, but I'm not sure if it's the right choice. Does anyone have experience with rattan furniture? Is it durable enough to withstand the elements and still look great season after season?

I planted 5 rows of potatoes last night after work. I still need to start my pepper & tomato seeds yet. I'm going to switch back Bodacious corn this year because I planted Ambrosia last year and didn't have any luck. Oh ya, I gotta figure out something with the deer. They destroyed my garden last year so I'm thinking some type of electric fence.

You are about a month ahead of us up here in the mid-west.

I did get my garden plowed on the 19th, a record for me!

With over an inch of rain here since and snow forecast for tomorrow they are now lying out there in the wet & muddy cold cold ground shivering their buds off!!
Not complaining here though as we are waaaaay short on moisture around here!

Getting a few gardens booked for tilling already, I tell them anytime , just let me know when they think it's dried up a enough.

We finally got the last of the snow off the ground. Couple weeks till
the frost will be all out. Still in the teens most nights but spring is close.
Uncovered Garlic crop last weekend. It is just starting to poke up.
