Hy Trans fluid for a 2072 SGT

Hi all
I want to buy 2 gal of the above fluid it seems to be 40.00 a gallon is that the best I can do?
Also is the hydro filter used to clean the differential fluid in the rear end. What I'm asking is does this 7 quarts of fluid run the hydraulics and the rear end.

Yes, that fluid runs everything that's not engine oil. It's CaseIH HyTran optimally (or CCC's future versions).

This is the stuff I use, w/ inflation up to $30/2 gallon.

At the local Case/IH dealer, I just paid $28 with NY tax inc. for a gallon of the genuine stuff part number 73344265 . Check around for a local dealer. Should be cheaper than any online price with shipping factored in...

7 qts. is an approximate amount. Best to get the 2 gallons for a little extra. I fill these without the relief valves installed. It offers venting, so that the fluid goes in much quicker without the burping effect.

Like the hydro filter, only use the genuine stuff for best results.

Cadmandu 06-12-2022 09:45 AM

thanks guys great info.
how do you take out the relief valves

1711Cub 06-12-2022 09:50 AM

1" box wrench. On some machines, the rear fender pan can be in the way, and would need to be loosened and blocked up for more clearance.

This stuff meets all the specs of hytran but not the gelling of water.(which I don't want anyhow)

R these these valves that allow the towing of a hydro

Cadmandu 06-12-2022 04:24 PM

Do I need a gasket or can I use a gasket maker?
Thanks so much for all you help

1711Cub 06-12-2022 04:32 PM

Those hydro valves have o-rings to seal them to the hydro unit. No need to replace them every time they are removed. Just make sure they are lubed with fresh HyTran upon installation.

Cadmandu 06-12-2022 04:47 PM

R they for forward and reverse

Thanks a lot. I'm going to Tractor Supply soon, to get that cheaper fluid. If you break those valves loose to help drain the fluid can you take them out and clean them. Should I replace the O rings?

1711Cub 06-15-2022 10:33 AM

If you are removing them, no need to clean them internally. By all means, keep them clean when out, and clean them externally. Before removal, blow out the areas around them with compressed air. No need to replace the o-rings, as they are specific to these units, but are available online.

Cadmandu 06-15-2022 12:07 PM

Thanks for all the great help. I bought a new carb and fuel pump and filter. I'm removing the fuel tank so I drain and clean. I'm going to remove my 60 in Haban so I can sharpen the blades and paint it. This is my first time. I now have a garage so I can slide it out. Do you pull it out from the left side? How many connections do I have to deal with. I have a swing set frame and a chain fall. Do you think that would pick up?

Cadmandu 06-16-2022 08:48 AM

I'm having trouble getting the travlers universal tractor fluid. All the TSC stores are out. A y suggestions

1711Cub 06-16-2022 09:24 AM

Go to a local Case/IH dealer and get the right stuff. There's a reason it's more money. It's 100% zinc free, and can hold up to 1% of it's volume in moisture, which is advantageous with a system that does not get warm enough to burn the moisture out of the oil during normal operation.

I paid $28 with tax inc. a gallon of it two weeks ago.

Cadmandu 06-16-2022 07:04 PM

They said it has been on back order for months.

1711Cub 06-16-2022 07:36 PM

Define they?

Cadmandu 06-16-2022 08:57 PM

Sorry I called shade equipment our local cub cadet dealer.

I posted that page 1...but OP is in VA and doesn't seem to be reading through the replies very well. :bigthink:

Cadmandu 06-17-2022 01:30 PM

Sorry, I missed the link. Being 72 and from VA makes me a little slow.

Zinc is actually a very good thing for the slippers in the hydro pump. It resist's high loads, that's why it's desirable for diesel engines. I honestly don't care one bit what you put in your stuff but I'll stick with 15W40 diesel engine oils like Shell Rotella T or Mobil Delvac.

Don't care one bit either, pal..

I'll stick with OE recommended parts and fluids. Seems like too many cheap f**ks in this hobby, and then they wonder why stuff doesn't hold up or work well. Rarely can have it both ways.

So you put diesel engine oil in your hydro? This is what this thread is about..:bash:

Now I'm really confused! I can't find in the manual where it says to use IH Hytran anywhere. Should I run Hytran in my JD 430 too? Those Deere guys will be pissed if they gotta go to an IH dealer to get fluid for their hydro's. What does IH say about using type F automatic transmission fluid? The maker of the hydro says it's okay to use. Oh, maybe IH, Deere, Steiner & Wheel Donkey want you to buy their overpriced oil for profit.:bigthink:

Here be the manual for the pump.

The hytran? No, it's serviced via the dipstick under the seat/drainplug on the front of the trans/pump assy.

Do what you want. Several long time Cub Cadet techs says there is a difference.

Sadly, this what this thread has come down to at this point.

finsruskw 06-20-2022 03:11 PM

.
Just checked my Case IH dealer and a 5 gal bucket of HyTran is
$115 + Tx.
or $23 Gal
or $5.75 qt

What's the big controversy here??
How much is a qt of motor oil these days??
Or a Gal pf gas for Pete's sake!

R Bedell 06-20-2022 03:25 PM

Well, the great debate has come to another sad ending, and it is time to close this thread.

:crap:
