Locked in gear
I have just a cub cadet 124. Engine runs great, clutch works great, my problem is the transmission keeps getting stuck stuck in second gear. I can remove shift lever, break the gears loose, replace the lever and it works fine thru all gears, than will suddenly lock up again. Help

pull the shifter off the top , it'll probably be easy to see the problem

Thanks, what will I be looking for?

The two shifter forks are held in place on the rods buy the bolts (numbered 12). I would venture a guess that one or both of the number 12 bolts have become loose or fallen out, or your shifter fork may be broken or bent. |
Thank You very much

I'm thinking the problem is the turbo encabulator connection explained here:

Got the transmission working, pulled shift lever, got the gears loose, put back together, worked for a week and hung up again. Have done all of this 3 times and will eventually hang up in gear again. Help, any ideas.

#18 in Ironmans photo. The clamps are probably broken or loose not keeping tension on the fork rods

Hi folks, new member here. I just went through this on a 122 my wife inherited. Stuck in reverse. So after seeing this thread i pulled the body work and shifter plate and voila reverse shifter fork bolt had worked loose. Got it back to neutral and tightened the bolt, replaced the sheet metal and all is good again. Thanks to the knowledgeable members of this board it was a painless repair!
