1863 & a half / Front End Loader (Slow) build
1 Attachment(s)
Here is one of my many Projects:biggrin2:
I have an 1863 that I will be making into a Dedicated Front End loader. Reason for the 1863 and a Half in the title is; I have a 1864 doner tractor. The 1864 I purchased someone had left it in pieces:Boohoo: I will use Hydro and Power steering from the 1864. I have some of the brackets fabricated already. I also have a Bucket and belly plate made. Here's a few Pictures of the tractor. Attachment 108000 . |

Here is my Belly-Pan plates.
I am machining/ making 2 of each. Because I plan to make a , Light Duty Loader attachment for my 1641. BTW: (1641 currently has an Extreme 3 point hitch installed on it.) I will try to stay on track with the 1863 in this build thread. Here is pictures of the 2 belly plates. The one with the big opening is for Power steering. The other is for Manuel steering. (Power steering plate on the top of Manuel str. plate) Attachment 108006 (Manuel Plate) Attachment 108007 (Power Str. Plate) Attachment 108008 These are in early stages. I will put bridge caps in a couple of places. . |

Sometimes just getting started on a project is the biggest hurdle. :beerchug:
Did you buy a plan, make a plan or is it plan as you go? |
I totally agree with the getting started:biggrin2:
I have a smaller loader frame that my Daddy purchased Years ago. I made a plan (In my head) from That frame:beer2: Also had a few years exp. working on (Heavy Equipment) Going to be a learning curve by making my own thou:HeadScratch: . |
Nice start, do you run that cnc / machining center ?
|
Nice work !!:beerchug:

I cut the flanges off the bucket, And ground it smooth. This is the bucket in post #5 I welded the grooves in later. Attachment 109639 Had to add plates to level the mounting surface on the back of bucket. The arms are a few inches inboard. Attachment 109640 Drilled holes and added DOM tube for mounting a brace across the top of the vertical arms Attachment 109641 Attachment 109642 |

In post #14 (this build) graduated to a 1864. I was going to put the power steering and everything involved on the 1863, That's where the 63 & 1/2 came in. Now it will be a 1864 since I purchased that one. I am making (Two) of all the smaller pieces of loader stuff In plans to make the 1863 another light duty loader. At-least that the plan for now. |

The Hyd. controls showed up today.
I have a few pictures before this  I will catch that up :biggrin2: Here is the Joy Stick 1st Then the Add On's Attachment 109710 Attachment 109711 Attachment 109712 Attachment 109713 I may Stack them ?? Attachment 109714 |
You are gett'en 'er done, nice work! Handy to have some commercial machinery at your disposal.
I'm curious about why your joystick control only has two work ports. The purpose of a joystick control is to have four work ports controlled by a single lever. |

It is a definite benefit to work at a Machine shop.:Work: I will take another picture of the bottom of the joystick valve. The work ports are on the bottom. I got distracted  I was going to flip that valve over and snap a Picture:BlahBlah: The wife and puppy interrupted :RollEyes2: I will mock these up and see how the hose paths will look. I may stack the valves as they are in the last picture, With a spacer in between. :bigthink: |

I need to find a hobby so I can relax. JK This is what I enjoy. I just got the same issue most of us do. Each project leads to another project:biggrin2: |

Got a little more progress made.
These pins is the first thing that has been Lost (For me anyway) by UPS. They lost these 30 minutes from the house on Dec. 22nd I reordered them and Here they are:biggrin2: Attachment 109746 Ambush Here is a view of the ports on the joystick valve. Attachment 109747 I am debating now how (In what configuration) I will mount them.:HeadScratch: Attachment 109748 Here is a side view of the valves. One of the cap plugs is busted in the bottom valve:crap: Attachment 109750 Here is a plate between the valves. So I can picture some mounting Idea's:bigthink: Attachment 109752 |

Mounted this way hoses go up.
That's no good Attachment 109753 Side plate ? Angle fittings? Attachment 109754 I will know more once I get the main frame mounted. Attachment 109755 Here I am drilling and boring the loader arms for 2 inch diameter slugs. For the 1" top pins. I will plasma cut the curve that is (paint ) marked in red , Then cap it off with a sheetmetal cap. The Hammer and bend stuff.:biggrin2: Attachment 109756 Well to make it a Good day. I was at Northern ( t oo l ) and picked up my lift cylinders. Attachment 109757 |
Nice to have lots of circuits now rather than replumbing later! Once your masts are on you just have to sit in the seat and try different valve mounting positions for comfort and clearance. You're moving right along now!

One small step for Getter Done.
Thanks Ambush for the boost of confidence This work is on my Mill/Drill at home. I am boring out the Top arm to fit this slug for the top pin. I forgot to take a Picture of my Lathe work  I got this slug (Cleaned Up) tonight in my lathe in the other shed :BlahBlah: I will get the slug fitting snug :biggrin2: Then I will welder-up and bring it back  To the Mill/drill and drill and Ream it for the pin. I got make a decision on the tolerance of the clearance of my pins. Then I can ask the Toolmaker at work (nicely), To grind me a reamer:beer2: Attachment 109764 |

Here are a few pictures of small progress.
I'm Still working on the top pin bosses for the arms. Made the slug in the lathe. Attachment 109783 Then fit it to the bored hole. Attachment 109779 I Machined a taper for the welding. So, the weld penetration will be Ok :beerchug: Attachment 109780 #1 side fitted Attachment 109781 Working on #2 Attachment 109782 |
Getter-Done, Do you have more progress to report on this thread? Certainly a very interesting read but you leave me hanging.
