Kohler 321 Carb question
I have a Kohler 321 that the parts diagram shows carburetor 47-853-30.
However, the carb on my engine looks to be replacement, it is marked 47-053-04 but I cant find any information on this number and I need a rebuild kit. And I double checked thats a 0 not an 8 on my carb. Anyone know if they might be the same? |
Is it a walbro? then it will need a different kit. If not it will use the same kit the udder used.
|
how do I tell if its a walbro?
(I apologize, im sure this is common knowledge around here.) |

Amen!! |
Where is the casting mark usually? I see that part number cast into it but not walbro.
|
If you don't see it then you don't have it.
The kits are the same for both carbs you mention. Is this the same engine that is in the 125 with the funny dipstick? |

Thanks for the laugh! |
Been searching around and I still can't tell how to identify an original Kohler carb from a copy?
|
A walbro will only have one adjustment screw
A Carter will have 2, an idle screw and a high speed screw. Post a picture of it. What's wrong with it anyway? |

So hopefully nothing wrong with it that a through cleaning won't fix. It looked clean inside the bowl and throat but it's obviously been sitting... The engine it was on is a 321A if that matters... The p/n stamped on the carb is A-237771 Is that an oem cadet or kohler p/n? putting that part # to amazon gave me this which does look the same minus having a p/n stamped on the body. https://www.amazon.com/CARBURETOR-F-.../dp/B01M62O80S Attachment 104642 Attachment 104643 |

Cleaned it up yesterday enough (to take apart) to properly clean and rebuild it later...
And with more cleaning, more p/n were revealed -- C-275369 cast into the body From this thread https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...ead.php?t=5107 I've determined that it is indeed an oem Carter carb for a K321A Attachment 104650 It's interesting to compare the differences between this one and my chinese copy. The brass bits are all a bit more refined on the oem, and the fuel bowl and float are thicker, so more durable... Of course, it would take a machinist's kit to measure how closely the jets and passageways actually match between the clone and the oem... |
