Hydro adjust
1 Attachment(s)
On my 2284 the only way I can get reasonable reverse speed is to adjust cam pivot bracket way low. Service bulletin says flush with top of washer over the slot. It was already lower and would barely back up sometimes. After adjusting to get decent speed I adjusted connecting rod to neutral of rear and the dash. Now it has full forward speed with lever 2/3 the way up. Linkages and pins look great. The trunion looks too good. No wear as in maybe replaced? I went ahead and changed springs and buttons. Also 1 ball joint appears replaced. Any ideas as to
the odd adjustment or just run as is? |

Also there are 2 holes for the linkage, which one is correct?

I would move it to the top hole in the cam plate, see if it makes a difference.

So I spent the evening trying to get the right hand brake pedal unstuck--its still stuck. Wish I would have seen this before I put the fuel tank back in. Hot wrench would have helped. |
Did I read you correctly that you stated that one of the ball joints appeared to have been replaced?
Just a thought... Is it possible that the connecting rod needs some adjustment? |

John, you're a member of Cub Cyclops. In the files section is a service bulletin about slow reverse on the Cyclops. The bulletin was provided to me by Lew. :beerchug:

I moved to the upper hole and readjust the bracket on the pump and the connecting rod several times. Finally the slot in the bracket is about even with the top of the bolt (not the flat washer referenced in service bulletin). Adjusted connecting rod. Looks like I have almost all movement in forward and lever is almost all the way up. Reverse appears to be just about full movement as well. Running it up in the air it looks tolerable. Addressing some other issues so hopefully I can get fenders on and give it a ride this afternoon. |

The 2 holes seems to be common on later Cyclops, this was a 2182

Once a Cyclops, always a Cyclops. Nice work by the way, I'm impressed. :beerchug:
