My 70 will be here Tues!!!

Super thanks to Tim from Oklahoma. It’s a complete 70 with 3 point lift, and spring assist. It has good fenders with good reflectors, mower deck, new PTO, blades, belts, & tune up, I can’t wait. Already have his clean dry spot in the garage.

I just picked up from Fasenal. It arrived safe and sound. I was really worried they would break the perfect rear fender reflectors, but not a scratch. IT'S GONNA BE FUN.

Congratulations!

That's a really nice tractor and a perfect original survivor.

Enjoy your new baby!

Its here

Yes sir, I plan on installing fresh oil, gas, and grease it at every fitting, then she will be handling the mowing chores weekly.

I plan to put new tires on soon as well the rears are originals and are cracked. The previous owner advised they have a very slow leak. I as of now, plan to keep it as all original as I can patina and all. I figured the tractor has earned it.

:bigthink:

jbrewer 02-01-2020 10:11 AM

You could always put tubes in the originals too, if you wanted.

There's a LOT of repainted new shiny cubs , and they're very nice looking, but there's only ONE that looks like the one you have. I think it's great that you're keeping it that way, showing that it's earned it's patina!

dads70 02-01-2020 10:19 AM

good idea I hadn't thought of on just using tubes in the orig 2 ply firestones...…. think ill get a pair hopefully I can break it down and install without the tire falling apart:bigthink:

dads70 02-01-2020 10:26 AM

it is a huge pain to install tubes? what tools do I need?

You should be able to just break one bead off the rim, and stuff a new tube in without a big problem!

Hint: Put soapy water on it before you start doing this :-)

dads70 02-01-2020 10:31 AM

good advice, I think ill try tubes ebay has a pair for like 14.00 would like to keep the original rear tires if poss

will be getting a light wiring kit to hook all of them up very soon will be posting build and maintained pics here will stay patina just oiled lubed and washed will live inside my shop with a cover:beerchug:

jbrewer 02-01-2020 10:32 AM

Here's how I break the bead

Remove valve core .

Place 2x12 piece of wood, or sometimes I use one of my drive on car ramps right on the edge of the bead near (but not ON the rim).

Drive car up the ramp till bead pops off the rim.

Done!

dads70 02-01-2020 10:34 AM

AWESOME IDEA :beerchug: SHELL EITHER COME OFF OR COME APART:biggrin2:

dads70 02-01-2020 10:47 AM

I have a line possible, on a IH cart to pull behind for firewood, and lawn tools. Hopefully pics to follow.

jbrewer 02-01-2020 11:16 AM

when the rim is flat on the ground, try and get the business end of whatever you're driving up on RIGHT on the seam where the tire meets the rim (two people helps this... you dont want to bend the rim).

I've done this a bunch of times and it's always worked...

Also, it helps when putting the tube in, if you let it sit in the sun and soften up some before wetting it with the soapy water and slide it into place.

Looks nice! Glad to hear it made it home safely.

ok well got her all cleaned up and tucked in the shop, put fresh gas in it, installed the large 12v battery with new cables, closed the lid turned the key, pushed the starter button and POW SPARKS EVERYWHERE AFTER IT WAS RUNNING,

the dang hood brace closed right across both termianls:bash: melted the neg wire fast before I could shut it off and get hood raisded:banned:

then carb gasket was dry as a bone and pouring gas out, SOOOO ordered the correct battery ends and gaskets this week motor fired right up ran great, cant wait to get it mowing.... installed the Briley hitch

jbrewer 02-11-2020 09:54 AM

I was just wondering when we'd get to see some pictures.

That looks GREAT... I love that tractor. It really looks good and I'm glad it found a good home.

There's not much room for batteries in any cub. They just ...barely fit. Glad you didn't roach anything badly....a battery cable is a cheap fix!

dads70 02-11-2020 11:54 AM

I plan on getting her ready, lights hooked up and will not restore, I figured she earned her rust...… will be washed after every cut then parked inside...

IHCubCadet147 02-11-2020 10:36 PM

Looks good! I did the same thing with the battery on my 147 when I first got it.
