Cub Cadet 1450 IH
 

After doing various searches with CL/Facebook & talking with Cooperino I came across this find. The 1450 is not currently running so i have to dig into it.. unfortunately i didn't get a key with it.. arg I was told the last time this thing was running was 8 years ago.. I pulled the dipstick on it and it looks like brand new oil..he threw in the snow thrower, he didn't know if it would work for the 1450 or not...

So question is who would be available to help me with some (1450) key(s)?:bigthink:

Cub Cadet Specialties should have that key, along with a couple of new flex disc joints. That front one looks like it's ready to come apart.

Good save on the 1450, and rear lift too!

Since we spoke and you told me what you paid, you did real good at first glance.

However, do what I told you with the tank and fuel system before you do anything. Check over that tractor thoroughly before turning your new key.

If you get it to turn and actually start DO NOT RUN IT FOR MORE THAN A MINUTE.

I can see already that engine need to come out and have tins removed and cleaned. It also would appear to have a possible oil leak.
Probably a seal. I would have front and rear seals and gaskets on hand to address this. Since you already know it needs the joints have them on hand also.

Not sure what mounts are in it but most likely stock. Figure out what mounts you want to run and have those on hand as well.


Pull the deck, check your belts and give it all a good cleaning and grease.

My gut thinks ya got a good one.

Here is a Indak key that you can probably pick up at Lowe's, Home Depot or Tractor Supply, that ones from Ebay. As for the snow blower, I'm not an expert but how does it attach to the front? I've attached a IH snow blower, yours does not have the frame attachment as shown. By the way, great find.

I should grab all the parts ahead of time before digging too far into it.. I want to make sure I have everything I need.. Are there videos on replacing front and rear seals/gaskets. I assume there's some type of manual for doing this stuff? Thanks again for the advice!

When I arrived the guy wasn't quite sure if it would work.. He was moving out of the place and was wanting to move stuff.. He mentioned it was cub cadet. I said well I'd take it if your wanting to get rid of it.. FYI we just moved into a new house and space is very limited as our garage is full of all of our belongings... Haha wife was just happy that I was able to get something... Not sure if I'll have this up and running before the snow flakes fly. I guess I'll finish my lawn stuff with my push one more year, but I'm totally fine with that. I am hoping I can get my son involved with the restoration of this beauty.

Hear it run before you buy all those parts. I was just letting you know what your in for once its actually running. No sense in buying all those parts just yet. If you start it up and it knocks then you may want to go different route.

Would a Lowe's or home depot carrry a key like this? I'd like to get it asap, this reminds me of Christmas Eve waiting to open presents the next day lol...

Looks like the battery is toast.. what's the best one to put in these?

It takes a standard lawn tractor battery. If you are going to use it in the winter find the highest CCA rating you can.
