Alternate bagger model cross reference?
I have a 1996 2140, that I am looking for a bagger for. My model according to the manual takes a model 190-305-100, which my only option really is finding a used one, which is proven to be a challenge. Buying the parts separately is not an option as it is way more expensive than I want to spend to bag grass.
Does anyone know if there is a comparable or cross reference model number that would be a good or exact fit? I can't find anything online. Thanks, Eric |
I have 2 different tractors with "non matching" baggers. It didnt take much to adapt them to work. I did use Cub cadet made baggers which probably helped some.

You can get a 3 bagger on that unit.. Ive found in my neck of the woods they are more abundant.
Not for nuthin, Years ago I had a crapsman tractor. I made a discharge piece for deck out of duct material that went from rectangular to round. The I used some corrugated 5" tubing to connect to a large yard trash can. I cut a center hole in the lid and made some vent holes. I was able to bag my clippings and leaves with it. It worked great! And it didnt cost much to make. |

I envisioned which ever I get, I will have to modify somewhat with duct or plastic. Most likely some sheet metal screws and washers to keep it in place. |
If you try the trash can idea.. You absolutely have to vent it. I made my large hole for the tube in the center. I then cut 1/2" holes all over the lid for ventilation.
Any High Vac deck should have sufficient flow to use a stock bagger or one homemade like i mentioned |

The garbage can mount will literally double as a functional wheelie bar for me, and I think I'm gonna have to add front weights. |

I get all three of my bags pretty full with damp grass and yes the front will get a little lite and I could make it do a wheelie when full but it is easily controlled. |
I have a big garden in a small yard, it's really tight to get around to mow. While the cubs are awesome in the garden, there's no way I could mow my lawn with one. I have big raised beds 32" apart, trees, sandboxes, trampolines, fences, gates, a pool, greenhouse, chicken run, and all sorts of other stuff to get around. My cubs stay in the garden and I have a Snapper 28086 Forrest Gump special for grass duty. The 28" hi vac deck and tight steering with the handlebars is perfect. Snapper Hi Vac blades have wings, like fan blades, and they really move air well.
I try to make the best possible use out of everything that the land produces, and the first several mows of the year I make a special high nitrogen compost from chicken manure and fresh green grass clippings to amend the soil in the corn garden. I have a factory bagger for it, but it's super wide and catches on everything. Last year, it accounted for a bit of what ol' George might call "tractor blight." A narrow, single trash can bagger would be a game changer. The factory 1980's B&S 8hp is tired, and the drive plate, which is galded to the shaft, needs to be replaced. I happen to have a 19.5 Briggs and Stratton opposed twin engine just lying around, and it will bolt right on with factory parts for about $40, and the biggest downside is that one of the bagger brackets is in the way. This is how I'm going to end up with a 19.5hp 28" hi vac, & this is a video of a newer model that someone else did a really nice job swapping. https://youtu.be/AKuJu-Zbfb0 |

I found an older craftsman double bagger in good condition for $40 figured it was worth a try. Bingo bango and boom it was on. I have a little work to do around the deck shoot but will be easy.
