Cub 2B tiller
Hey guys been a long time. I recently moved and I'm in the process of trying to put in my yard. I just bought a 124 with a 2B rototiller. I dropped it in the ground, not fully made a pass. Then the tines quit. Everything else turns. Is this a shear bolt? I grab the tines and they turn about a quarter turn and stop, they don't turn completely like there's no resistance. Did one of the gears shear a key? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you broke a chain.

The #2B Tiller was designed for the 82 Series tractors using the 5/8" drive belt. Might have to change the drive pulley back to 3/8" to run the tiller correctly. That is if it already hasn't.

Thanks for the replies guys. The 90 degree box that is on the tractor is for a 3/8's belt. So I think it has been changed. The PO said something about it having another 90 degree box? So I'm guessing the tines won't turn because like Sam said the chain may be broke and is laying in the bottom not letting it turn?

It does have a 3/8's pulley on if now.

With the tiller up in the air and the belts off see if you can spin the big pulley by hand and if the tines turn.
|
The pulley turns freely. The tines don't turn. I'm taking it to work today to open it up.

If yer tines don't tine, and yer pulley don't pull,
yer chip monks are not holding hands inside, prolly because of no peanut oil :biggrin2: |
So pulled the whole dang thing apart today. The chain was broke and had multiple other splits at the ends of the links just waiting to let loose. I cleaned it all out in the solvent tank and put a new chain on. Everything else looked to be workable. I'm going to put her back in the ground tommorow! Thanks for all the replies!

Don't know how I feel about all this green dealer talk.lol
My dad works for Ohio Cat and they are a Massy Ferguson dealer. He said they carry single and double "O" lithium grease. Is this normally hard to aquire? |

Tsc carries it sometimes yer massy dealer will have it as you know. Was there any grease in your housing? prolly just crud. |
Actually had a decent amount of material resembling grease. The chain that was in it said made in Taiwan so I'm guessing someone has been in there.
