Another light problem

Hi guys been gone for way too long. I have a lighting problem when I install my snow blower. The snow blower obscures most of my light and was wondering how to overcome this. I do not have a cab on any of my tractors that I use for snow blowing ( 2084, 2086 or 2284) has anyone installed lights higher and if so how did you do it.

Mount some lights on the snow blower!

Maybe something like plow lights on a truck.

Good to hear from you Paul....where have you been?

On the issue with the blower.....sell it and move south, that's what I did.:biggrin2:

I've used these in a pinch in the past.

Thanks guys I have been having some medical problems, not real serious but the prescription to eliminate the med problem has been kicking my rear. Now to the lights, When using the blower I have to back up frequently and could never see when doing so. I removed a taillight and installed a stronger light that solved that problem. That created a different problem in that when the lights are on and snow blower engaged my generator dash light comes on. So far it has not drained my battery. Possibly I could disconnect my head lights when using an additional light mounted on the blower. I have a concern with a blower mounted light in that the light would be subject to a lot of vibration and I do not know if led lights would last very long in that environment.

Maybe some magnetic lights to mount on hood while using blower.

PaulS 01-09-2019 08:39 AM

Good suggestion but the hood and front are all plastic on these series of tractors.

I would think that LED lights would be more durable in a high vibration application. Looking at Craigslist and FB I saw a couple for sale that had lights mounted on the fenders which seemed like a less than desirable solution.

this is what I did
got the lights at wal mart ~20
couple small LED's from Amazon would draw a lot less current
though mine are 35 or 50 watts each, can't remember and I don't have any charging issues

LED lights use way less current. Be a lot easier on your electrical system and you'll have more light as well

I mounted some small halogen fog lights on the drift cutters years ago. I wire them directly into the headlights in winter and they've worked fine on my 1862 and 982 for years. They are mounted wide enough to do a good job and are adjustable left/right. Good luck!

As seen on TV 2 for 19.95. 12 hours per charge should handle your snow plowing/blowing chores, I think.

I am going to look into those Hell and Bowel lights they may work for my snow blowing duties.

I borrowed a trailer from a nearby family member 2 weeks ago when I went to look at a tiller and came home with a 149. He loaned me the one he had in his pickup when we discussed how the brilliant engineers at Toyota left the cargo light out of extended cab Tacomas and it was pretty awesome. He made up an extension cord for it too. Plus one on the recommendation.
