2362 Snowblower

I am going to start a new thread on this project. The 1862 roller I bought from Sam is going to now be used as my dedicated snowblower with the 451 and deluxe cab I have. It's too much hassle to swap it out twice a year. And the 23hp Vanguard will actually get to do some real work. If it snows.:beerchug:

I will start working on the engine transplant tomorrow. I got the first parts that I need today. The front tires on the 1862 only hold air for about 20 minutes and are very dry rotted. These should turn pretty good in the snow. They only cost about $15 more than the turf savers. More pics tomorrow.

should be a fun machine.

Looks like you have a plan!

What are those front tires? It seems like the tread pattern somewhat looks like the IH symbol sideways!

Shrewcub 12-28-2018 11:46 PM

I hadn't noticed that!:beer2:
They are Carlisle Snow Hog 16x6.50x8. Got them on Amazon for$28 before tax and fees. $59.22 for the pair to my door. :beerchug:

Cool! :beerchug:

Sounds like an interesting project. Keep us posted and updated and.....wth pictures.

Got the engines swapped yesterday. Driveshaft installed today. Also got the tires dismounted. The rims are really rusty so I will blast and powder coat them tomorrow.

I suppose. I may need to spray a little metal on there too.:biggrin2: I wonder if anyone has any of those?:bigthink:

RumbleFish 01-01-2019 07:24 PM

I can look at my 1862 parts machine to see if the footrests are any good

Thanks Jeff! I will just hit them undercoat if I can't find any. You won't be able to see them with the cab on anyway.:beerchug:

Shrewcub 01-01-2019 10:19 PM

Well the sand hose inside the cabinet had disintegrated and I couldn't find a replacement here. Looks like a wire wheel, rolocs, 1 step, and tubes for these wheels and tires. Ordered the tubes from TSC for $7 a piece. Hopefully ship to store doesn't take too long.

Shrewcub 01-07-2019 07:04 PM

I did end up blasting the inside of the wheels and painted them. Got the tubes today. Driveshaft, fuel tank, and fenders on. A few more wires and it should move on it's own.

Does that fan clear the filter? :bigthink:

Fan should be mounted to the front of the CV joint. :beerchug:

Edit: 2nd pic is your tractor before you bought it from me. :beerchug:

I knew you would catch that.:biggrin2: It did clear because of the shorter filter. I ended up moving it to the front, like it's supposed to be. I didn't like the idea of the plastic between the CV and adapter. I had to trim a little from the fins to clear my compression fitting in the line.

Got motivated enough tonight to get it running and drove it into the shed with it's younger brother, the 1864. :beerchug:

Put the seat on. Installed the PTO and got the blower hooked up today. I put the 1864 out back so I can have some room to work inside and out of the wind tomorrow. Getting the plastic on the front may take a little bit of rigging and a lot of shims. It's definitely seen better days.

I did have an issue with the exhaust pipe hitting the heat shield on the blower. For now I bent the shield, but need to bend the pipe as well.

Well I forgot some posts. I will try to catch up, but snow is falling and I need to get up in 6 hours and try it out. I will update tomorrow.:beerchug::beer2:

Looks good to me. I got ice. :BB&YS:

I think I have some better plastic and I may have a set of the foot pads. If I do you can have them. :beerchug:

Had the BX all ready to go, this is what my driveway looks like. :bash2:

IHCubCadet147 01-13-2019 09:26 AM

Looks good!

Shrewcub 01-13-2019 01:33 PM

Thanks guys! Unfortunately I got 50 feet before the auger bolt I had "temporary" used 3 years in a pinch, broke. I will have to pull the auger off to get it out and fix the mess I created. 782 got 6 inches cleared off with ease. I will post some pics later.

Sam, that sucks worse than snow. Got any skates? Lol :biggrin2:

Well that sucks.

Shrewcub 01-14-2019 11:10 PM

The gearbox feels fine. I pulled the auger off today. The inner shaft isn't too bad. This took most of the hit. I'm thinking about redrilling the holes 90° apart. Your thoughts.

https://i.postimg.cc/dtBC8ftb/IMG-20...-131510237.jpg

Here's my plan to keep asphalt milling chunks from ruining my life from now on. I cut a piece of oil drum out today to make a skid plate for the blower. It's only .105" thick so I may double it up. I don't want anything but snow to enter the blower. The ground is never frozen when we get snow.

Sam Mac 01-15-2019 07:56 AM

I would drill new holes 90 degrees from those and then I'd weld a patch over the old holes.

ol'George 01-15-2019 08:20 AM

Stick a snug fitting bass/copper bar in the auger where the shaft goes, then weld the wallowed hole shut and re drill it.
slide the brass out and install.:beerchug:
Watch what you feed the auger, make sure it it vegetarian :biggrin2:

Good idea except that the hole for the shear pin is in the middle of the auger. More work that it's worth. :beerchug:

darkminion_17 01-15-2019 07:50 PM

Hope you get it fixed up proper as more snow is coming.

Shrewcub 01-25-2019 08:14 PM

I fixed the auger today. I found a 4 way tire wrench, that after a little grinding, fit perfectly inside the auger shaft. I was able to hammer most of the damage out. I put a piece of copper pipe inside and welded the rest. I think my $100 harber freight welder almost paid for itself.

Thanks for the idea George.:beerchug:

Edit: Lew,you can keep the snow. We only got more rain, I mean mud.

Sam Mac 01-25-2019 08:17 PM

SWEET!:beerchug:

Shrewcub 01-26-2019 05:13 PM

Thanks Sam! Today I cut down my skid plate and "welded" it to the skid shoes. I still need to clean up the sharp edges and move the upper links that have been in the wrong spot since I got it. I figured that out after I RTFM.Here's a couple pics. Feel free to laugh at the second. I did.:beerchug:
