The 100 build begins
9 Attachment(s)
Figured I would start a new thread for this. My other post tells the tale of how I ended up with the 100. My son and I decided even though its not the O that we wanted, it's worth refurbishing anyway. So we started on it tonight. Worked for an hour before dinner then another hour after his homework was finished. Found an old battery eye down below the steering while we were in there. Here's our progress so far.

Looks good so far, now, for our necks and eyeballs, you have to get the pictures oriented correctly, I am not sure oriented is the proper politically correct word though...
BTW your are just a boy, or is that a stand in? |

Are you sure? I think you are the boy in the picture.

Gotcha! I was just seeing what you say.
Anyway keep us updated on your progress. |
Nice to see you involve your son. Just remember, he might get his hands dirty! :biggrin2:
|
I like those diamond tread turfs!
In the other pics I see the valve stem on the outside. Are they CC or JD rims? I see Miller Tire sells a 6-12 Bridgestones 4-ply like those for $144 each. |
Good start Coop.:beerchug:
Good thing your boy is there to supervise, and to make sure the task at hand is done correctly.:biggrin2: Does he have a name, or is it Boy?:bigthink: Nice seeing the young, take interest. |
Nice project. Keep us posted on your steps and progress.

Coop, you and Kevin are getting a good start on restoring the 100. It is nice to see that your son is taking a real interest in helping you. You two will have many good memories of your time spent together on the project. Many of today's young people only seem to take an interest in video games and spending time on the computer.
|
Nice work so far but I think we need to take up a collection and buy Kevin a proper hat so he can get rid of that flat billed gangsta hat.:biggrin2:

Well, we didn't expect this. Busted steering box. We will be looking for a good replacement. Looks like PO tried to cobble it once. Almost glad we hit this speed bump. Shows my son no matter what. Plan for the unexpected.
|
It happens, a nice 3 turn off a 1211 will do wonders for the ease of steering.
They are the same length as the broken one. |

Thanks guys. That what we will do then. So my son wouldn't let me drive the shaft pin out. He insisted he do that and the axle pin. I let him use a little heat and he got them out
|
Good to see your progress.

These are the times of your life. Enjoy.

Have fun! And keep up the pics :)

^^^^ lol... but.... its okay its inline on his head not cocked in any way. Even a lot of MLB players are no longer curving their bills. And not to mention he is wrenching on a cub... he'll be just fine :beerchug:

Ok, we gotta stop picking on Coop's kid. That's the style these days and believe me when I say there was some stuff in the 90's I think back on and just shake my head about. Hopefully some rapper will start curving his bill so I can be cool again.:biggrin2: I've been wearing a hat like a religion for over twenty years and this is what a perfectly curved bill should look like.:biggrin2:

|
There are access holes made into the frame to be able to remove the roll pins. Is that the one you’re referring to?
