149 refurbish
5 Attachment(s)
Was able to work on my 149 yesterday and this morning. Installed the grill and the hood. Starting to look like a tractor again. Took some pictures. The grill looks like it has been special made. My other tractor's grills do not look like this one. It weighs about 3 pounds. I don't believe the 2 retaining springs will keep it from rattling. The hood fits fairly well. Enjoy the pictures and have a great day.

Looking good! :beerchug:

That definitely is not a grill for a 149. The grill should look just like the ones on your other tractor's pictures. The emblem looks like it is off a QL model. As long as your are happy with it, that is all that matters. Looks like it is cleaning up nicely for you. The 149 was just the right tractor, WF with hydraulic lift and enough motor to work well with many applications.

I like the custom grill much better. What would it look like if you mount the emblem on the corner like the original?

It's a piece of woven grating mesh mat'l
Looks good though. |
Looks great Bob. Looking forward to seeing more progress.

More air for the engine area to move from its premises.
Most of the plastic ones are melted, after that series they were metal again. |
Looks great to me.

I agree, looks good!

Thanks for all the compliments. Think I will try to move the IH emblem to the lower right of the wire grille. Maybe only the sharp eyed Cub enthusiasts will know that it is not a true 149 emblem. I really like the wire grille. Painted the seat mount and the seat springs today. Thinking about fine sanding the hood and spray can it again. Just does not have the shine it should. The hood sides took a better shine than the top. Pictures attached of the seat mount and springs. Have a great day,

I like it Mr Bob. :beerchug:
Lew is right as usual, lots of wide frame melted grill inserts out there. |
