Cub narrow frame paint colors
I was thinking about it, and I wonder: How nice it would look if I painted the grille casting on a narrow frame white like the 185 lo boys?
Anyone ever done this? Also, anyone know the font of the current Cub cadet logo? |

Looks kind of intersting, doesn't it? |
What model Cub? The grille housing on the QL you're working on would already be white.

Go for it, can always reshoot it.
I bet when IH was in the design stage at some point they looked at that combo. Before a final decision was made. |

If you get a 126 I suggest doing it original, they are a rare model tractor. Otherwise I say go for it.

a little off-topic, but here goes: My cub cadet 1000 has a white hood as well as the sheet metal dash area, but the nose and side covers are more of a cream color. Is this possibly a tractor that has been assembled from miscellaneous parts?

And hey, I could always just repaint the grille casting yellow like original. Depends on how it looks. |

It's fine by me, I just like seeing discussion.

I like seeing things painted all original.... but I make exceptions on custom builds. For example, changing a grill on an '82 series tractor to look like an 88 series IH tractor, then painting it in the same color scheme, with custom decals. Maybe changing an accent color, like on a lift handle changing it to black because the chrome is rusty. Or painting a S/G black even though they were yellow from the factory...... but for the most part I like it like it came from the factory.

Looks good on paper. I say go ahead and shoot the grill white.

I was thinking that along with painting the grille casting white, I would also use the 1st gen 1x4 and 1x5 decals (Entirely blue) or 1x6 and 1x7 decals (black with blue outline) and make the center part black to look like the Lo boy decals, or modify 149 decals to fit and make them say the type of tractor, like 124 or 127 to get that mini-lo boy look.

I might even truck it part of the way. |
Main problem is we have no space, and I don't have enough money, and I also have no motivation.
|
If you want to repaint the grille casting white, then you should think ahead. What color are you planning on painting the grille itself? It would have originally been white, too and to me, that would look stupid with a white grille casting and a white grille.

Think I got a narrow frame
I think I got a narrow frame. We drove past our farm (we live on the corner, grandparents live in the center of the farm) and I saw a narrow frame up on the trailer after my brother and grandpa went out to an auction. I think it's mine, just waiting for a confirmation text reply.

You say "we" a lot.
"We" have no room, "we" drove by, "we" live by our grandparents...... Who's "we"? Are you a kid? :bigthink: |

Personally I don't like whiners. Anyway, I like to know when I'm talking to a kd. I expect certain things from adults. I'll treat a kid differently than an adult. I will have a little more patients.... but seems like kids that join up here end up being know it alls, or argumentative. (Not all of them by any means.) It's a handy piece of info knowing if you are dealing with a 14 yr old, a 25 yr old, or a 50 yr old. Usually you can narrow it down without asking..... at least to an age bracket. I was pretty sure of the age range before I asked. |

Mudrig150, on your signature you have this sentence.
"I feel too mature to be only 14... What is life?" So are you 14 years old? |
