S/G K161 vs K341
Is there a difference in the S/G for a 7hp K161 and a 16HP K341.
I have a new 375 cca battery and used a new "k161 s/g" but it will barely turn over a rebuilt K341. Any help much appreciated. |
There may be a slight difference in the S/G's. There also can be a difference in the Pulley, depending if the engine has the ACR feature.
With out Tractor Model numbers, that is the best I can offer. |
The starter generators are the same for k161-k341 Kohlers on Cub Cadets.

I took 2 of them into my rebuilder this spring.
According to him, one was a regular unit and one was a hi-torque unit. Looked then same to me except for the part numbers is all. |

The old farts books come in handy for looking up part numbers and comparing them to the other model wf.

The K161 thru 301 use the 1101996 Delco Remy S/G. The K161 and 241 uses the 393620-R1 pulley, the K301 use the 385446-R2 pulley.
The K321 uses the 1101691 S/G and the 393620-R1 pulley. The K341 uses the 1101692 S/G and the 393620-R1 pulley. I read the book, I am a fart smella. |

Here are all the S/G that IH used on Cub Cadets...... S/G

but back to the original question....they ALL turn over slowly! :-)
|
Do the S/G turn slowly when not mounted to the K341...??
:bigthink: |
The engine being freshly rebuilt shouldn't make the s/g turn slowly, if the rings aren't seated the engine should be low on compression and roll over just fine. How did the engine roll over by hand once it's was built? Is it possible something inside the engine is to tight and causing this issue?
